Our higher education client is seeking a skilled and motivated Network Engineer with a strong background in Cisco technologies to join our dynamic IT team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining our network infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance, security, and reliability. This role requires a proactive individual who can troubleshoot and resolve complex network issues and work collaboratively with other IT professionals.


**Key Responsibilities:**


1. **Design and Implementation:**

- Design and deploy scalable, secure, and robust network solutions using Cisco technologies.

- Configure and install various network devices and services (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls, VPN, QoS).

- Develop and implement network security policies and procedures.


2. **Network Management:**

- Monitor network performance and ensure system availability and reliability.

- Perform network maintenance and system upgrades, including service packs, patches, hotfixes, and security configurations.

- Maintain and support multi-site, high-availability network infrastructures.


3. **Troubleshooting and Support:**

- Identify, diagnose, and resolve network issues promptly.

- Provide Level 2/3 support and troubleshooting to resolve connectivity and performance issues.

- Work closely with other IT teams to ensure smooth integration and operation of network and system environments.


4. **Documentation and Reporting:**

- Maintain accurate and up-to-date network diagrams, configurations, and documentation.

- Generate and analyze reports on network performance, usage, and trends.

- Ensure compliance with network policies and regulatory requirements.


5. **Continuous Improvement:**

- Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends and Cisco technologies.

- Evaluate and recommend new technologies and methodologies to enhance network performance and security.

- Participate in capacity planning and network expansion projects.


**Qualifications:**


- 3+ years of experience in network engineering with a focus on Cisco technologies.

- Cisco certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or higher are highly desirable.

- Strong knowledge of networking protocols (e.g., BGP, OSPF, EIGRP) and IP addressing.

- Experience with network monitoring and diagnostic tools.

- Proficiency in configuring and managing Cisco routers, switches, and firewalls.

- Solid understanding of network security principles and best practices.

- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or in a team.

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.


**Preferred Skills:**


- Experience with wireless networks and VoIP solutions.

- Knowledge of virtualization technologies and cloud networking.

- Familiarity with network automation tools and scripting languages (e.g., Python, Ansible).


Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.
