Responsibilities:

  • You will be responsible for the oversight of all financial aspects related to grants, contracts, and other funding mechanisms within our medical research organization.
  • Manage the full funding lifecycle, from proposal preparation to closeout, ensuring compliance with funding agency requirements and organizational policies.
  • Monitor grant and contract expenditures, track project performance against budget, and provide timely financial reports to stakeholders.
  • Conduct financial analysis to assess the financial viability of grant-funded projects and identify potential risks and opportunities.
  • Prepare accurate and comprehensive financial reports, including budget variance analysis, cash flow projections, and grant performance metrics, for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Provide financial insight and recommendations to leadership in support of decision-making and resource allocations.
  • Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements including Uniform Guidance, OMB Circulars, and other relevant regulations governing grant and contract funding.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for internal and external audits, providing documentation and support as needed to facilitate compliance reviews and resolve audit findings.
  • Oversee grant administration activities, including subaward management, invoicing, reporting obligations for subrecipients, and application submission and follow-up.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure proper stewardship of grant funds and mitigate financial risks associated with subrecipient relationships.
  • Collaborating cross-functionally with research and compliance teams to facilitate effective communication and coordination of financial activities.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with funding agencies, sponsors, and external partners to enhance collaboration and support the organization’s mission and goals.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field; advanced degree or certification (e.g., MBA, MPA, CPA) would be hugely advantageous.
  • Minimum of 7+ years of experience in financial management, with the focus on grants and contract administration, preferably in the medical research or healthcare industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of grant accounting principles, federal regulations, and compliance requirements, including Uniform Guidance (2 CFR 200) and OMB Circulars.
  • Strong analytically and proficient in financial modeling, budgeting, and forecasting.
