JOB SUMMARY:


Digital Engagement Assistant Digital Engagement Manager Hourly/Non-Exempt Responsible for executing Kansas City PBS, Flatland and The Bridge social media strategy by posting social media content, providing community engagement and working with staff content creators to share their work with the growing social audience. Reporting to the Digital Engagement Manager, the Digital Engagement Assistant will create relevant, compelling and engaging content that deepens our relationship with the audience across social media platforms. This role will demonstrate a genuine passion for social media, strong writing skills and an understanding of the latest news/trends in the digital media space. This role will also assist the Digital Engagement Manager with email marketing tasks.


JOB FUNCTIONS:


● Under the guidance of the Digital Engagement Manager, create brand-appropriate content to schedule and post in real time daily across all social channels, developing original content aligned with the Kansas City PBS brands.

● Maintain designated brand voice and tone across platforms.

● Travel to capture off-site events outside of regular business hours when needed.

● Work with graphics, contract photographers and producers to secure behind-the-scenes and other still photography to support the promotion of local content.

● Engage with the community through comments and direct messaging, responding quickly to questions and interacting with comments as needed.

● Work with production staff to identify opportunities to create and distribute engaging social media videos.

● Work with Digital Engagement Manager to set audience and engagement goals and implement social media strategies.

● Maintain accurate analytics for grants and station reporting with social media requirements.

● Record the results of email and social media campaigns in an analytics tracking spreadsheet.

● Assist in identifying and employing social media strategies to grow audiences.

● Collaborate with outside and internal producers and filmmakers to curate engaging content to promote local productions. Execute targeted social media ad campaigns for additional marketing and promotions.

● Work with the Digital Engagement Manager to set weekly priorities for each social media platform.

● Assist the Digital Engagement Manager with email marketing tasks such as list maintenance, list imports, template updates and other email tasks.


REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:


● Generally, have a passion for pop culture and technology and stay up to date with trends in the social media and marketing industries.

● Has the drive to research topics outside personal interest areas to create engaging content.

● Acknowledge that the scope of social media falls outside normal business hours.

● Must be an excellent writer.

● Ability to write in AP style.

● Ability to take direction and work collaboratively.

● Comfortable and willing to occasionally appear on camera for social media content creation.

● Proven ability to build consensus and work effectively within a cross-departmental team.

● Exceptional communication and organizational skills.

● Ability to set goals and use data analytics to measure results.

● Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud (Premiere Pro, Photoshop) or equivalent digital media editing tools is a plus.


EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE REQUIRED (an equivalent amount of training, education and experience will be considered):


● One to three years of professional social media experience and the ability to provide examples of a robust, personal social media portfolio.

● Basic understanding of SEO related to blogs, videos and websites.

● Experience editing and posting videos to social media platforms.

● Some photography and graphic design experience is preferred.

● Some email marketing experience is preferred.

● A bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field is preferred.

● Familiar with social media analytics and management tools such as Brandwatch, Hootsuite, Sprout Social, Meta Business Suite, Creator Studio, and Google Analytics 4. Please note: This is a bargaining unit position.
