Special Duty Assignment Talent AssociateMetro Transit's Employee Services Division is hiring a Special Duty Assignment Talent Associate We're seeking someone organized, customer-focused, and passionate about diversity and social justice. In this role, you'll help shape Metro's workforce by managing key parts of high-volume recruitments, from screening and testing to evaluating and hiring.Metro Transit's Employee Services Division supports King County's largest department through recruitment, workforce planning, HRIS analytics, and records management. Our work ensures Metro can continue meeting the transportation needs of a growing region and we invite you to contribute to that successRecruitment Information: This recruitment is intended to fill one Special Duty Assignment (SDA), anticipated to last approximately 12 months. The actual duration may vary based on the discretion of the supervisor. Additionally, this selection process may be used to establish an eligibility pool for future SDA vacancies within this classification and in this Division. You will also:Provide administrative support for full-cycle recruitment, selection, and onboarding, including documentation and completion of hiring procedures.Serve as the primary point of contact for candidates, coordinating with recruiters and staff through multiple channels while delivering outstanding customer service.Schedule and oversee candidate assessments and interviews.Manage HR-related documentation, ensuring accurate tracking and filing in both electronic and paper formats.Perform comprehensive background checks, including criminal records, employment references, driving records, medical exams, and DOT drug and alcohol testing compliance.Leverage HR systems (PeopleSoft, NEOGOV) and Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, SharePoint, Outlook, Teams) to monitor recruitment efforts, draft correspondence, organize meetings, and compile reports.Uphold strict confidentiality regarding HR matters, including employment decisions and disciplinary actions.Ensure adherence to employment standards and legal requirements, including Federal, State, and local laws, as well as DOT and CDL regulations.Crosstrain with colleagues to provide mutual support within the Transit HR team.Represent and promote Metro Transit at events, advocating for the organization as a premier employer.Other duties as assigned.We value the diverse experience, skills, and abilities our candidates bring to this important role. Candidates who do not possess all the qualifications listed below should still consider applying You are encouraged to translate life experiences to show how they meet the required experience, knowledge, education, and skills below.Minimum Qualifications:Demonstrated experience in progressively responsible recruitment or HR administrative and coordination roles, or equivalent knowledge and skills that ensure competency in the core functions of the position.Strong organizational, task management, and prioritization skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines with precision.Demonstrated ability to problem-solve effectively, exercise good judgment, and take initiative.Ability to maintain confidentiality and use discretion when handling sensitive information.Excellent communication and customer service skills, both oral and written, with the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships across a diverse workforce.Proficiency in reviewing and compiling data, preparing reports, and presenting information through charts and diagrams.Advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, Teams, and electronic document signing software (Adobe Pro, Docusign).Highly Desirable Qualifications (not required):Familiarity with Metro Transit policies, practices and organizational culture.Knowledge of human resource principles, practices and guidelines.Experience administering employment-related tests and assessments.Proficiency with HRIS/Human Capital Management systems such as PeopleSoft.Experience using applicant tracking systems, including NEOGOV or similar platforms.Experience with electronic employee record systems such as Laserfiche.Background working with or supporting unionized employees in a collective bargaining environment.Experience providing administrative support for public sector recruitment, particularly in high-volume or safety-sensitive roles.To apply: If you are interested in pursuing this position, please follow the application instructions carefully. However, work outside of these hours may occasionally be required. This position is classified as non-exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act and is eligible for overtime pay.Work Location: The Metro Transit Talent Team works in a hybrid model, with days in the office as well as telecommuting. The ratio of remote to onsite work will be dependent on business needs and is subject to change. The primary onsite location is King Street Center, 201 S. Jackson, Seattle, WA 98104. This position will also be required to work onsite at various King County Metro locations as needed. Employees must reside in Washington state and within a reasonable distance to their King County worksite to respond to workplace reporting requirements.King County has a robust collection of tools and resources to support working remotely.
