Position Summary:


The Payroll/Benefits Coordinator is primarily responsible for the accurate and timely processing/payment of employee paychecks, ensuring that appropriate statutory regulations are followed.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Processes and issues employee paychecks and statements through the computerized payroll system on a timely and accurate manner.
  • Works closely with payroll service to ensure compliance and accuracy.
  • Computes wages and deductions and inputs the data.
  • Compiles employee time and payroll data from time sheets (Practice) and other records.
  • Verifies attendance, hours worked, pay adjustments and post information onto designated records.
  • Reviews time sheets, wage computations, and other information to detect and reconcile payroll discrepancies.
  • Maintains all employee records and paperwork, such as new hires, promotions, resignations, personal changes, and input accordingly.
  • Maintains and inputs all benefit changes, deductions and employee changes.
  • Keeps informed about changes in federal and state regulations that apply to the payroll process.
  • Assists with bonus calculations and incentive payments.
  • Responds to employee questions, by telephone or in writing, after having checked the relevant facts from existing records.
  • Compiles and prepares accounting and human resource-related reports and summaries as requested.
  • Issues and records adjustments to pay-related errors or retroactive increases.
  • Prepares monthly, quarterly, and year-end reports.
  • Assists with preparation of open enrollment including managing carrier connections.
  • Assists with monthly benefit reconciliations.
  • Performs all verification of employment inquiries
  • Prepares the files for 401(k) each payroll and reconciliations
  • Processes and distributes year-end W-2’s and 1099’s.
  • Undertakes routine administrative support such as filing, preparing checks for mailing, and other miscellaneous tasks.


Environment Description – Work Location and Expected Travel:


The physical demands of this position include but are not limited to: the ability to sit at a desk for long periods of time and complete potentially large amounts of data entry. Travel outside the office is usually not required.



Education, Experience, and Other Qualifications:

  • High School education or equivalent.
  • Two years payroll-related work experience with general human resources support preferred.
  • Strong oral communication skills with a good telephone manner.
  • Strong math aptitude with 10-key proficiency.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and meet set deadlines.
  • The ability to multi-task, handle interruptions and problem solve.
