Objective of the Role:The Compensation Analyst performs a variety of professional, technical and analytical compensation and classification activities related to the Company’s compensation framework. Activities include analysis, design and administration of employer compensation programs, salary bands and variable pay programs, as well as job evaluation, grade determination, market research and pay equity analysis.


Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities of this Role:

  • Collaborates with the Compensation team on a variety of projects, including program design, analysis, budgeting and implementation of new and existing programs.
  • Assists with planning and implementing the annual and mid-year Compensation Review processes.
  • Performs grade evaluations by analyzing positions to determine scope of employee responsibilities and requirements.
  • Recommends, develops and implements appropriate employee compensation structures and plans.
  • Manages salary structure maintenance.
  • Reviews wide range of relevant compensation data to ensure company's remuneration policies are competitive.
  • Contributes company data to compensation surveys.
  • Analyzes internal and external salary statistics, including results of compensation surveys.
  • Conducts internal pay equity analysis.
  • Reviews new positions in anticipation of recruitment to ensure appropriate classification. As necessary, modifies and creates new job descriptions which accurately reflect current roles, responsibilities and recommendations.
  • Reviews requests for classification review, makes classification/pay level determinations and ensures requests for adjustments comply with current compensation policy.
  • Maintains and ensures consistent application of classification standards for all job classes.

Knowledge, Experience and Competencies

  • Education Level: Bachelor's Degree
  • Years of Relevant Experience: 5+ years
  • Other Required Experience: Previous compensation/job grading experience a plus


Additional Requirements and/or Qualifications

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to effectively present information to management and employees. Ability to calculate figures, amounts, and percentages.
  • Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.
  • Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, graphs, etc.). Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.
  • Experience in handling sensitive, confidential information.
  • Ability to raise issues proactively and in a timely manner.
  • Able to communicate effectively and build relationships with all levels of the organization.
  • Must possess excellent human relations and communication skills and work effectively without direct supervision. Effective time management and organizational skills required.
