About the role

The Therapy Systems and Preclinical team at Boston Scientific is growing and seeking a dynamic R&D Manager to support our Electrophysiology business within the Cardiology division. Electrophysiology is a critical growth driver for Boston Scientific, especially following the acquisition of FARAPULSE Inc., which strengthens our leadership in Personalized EP Solutions with a focus on Atrial Fibrillation. In this leadership role, you will guide a team of engineers and scientists in advancing pulsed field ablation (PFA) therapy development. You will collaborate with senior technical staff across product development teams to plan and execute scientific experiments using cutting-edge models and methodologies.

Your work will be instrumental in developing novel ablation technologies and generating scientific evidence to support the safety and effectiveness of our products. This is a highly visible and impactful position, focused on generating best-in-class pre-market data to support global regulatory approvals. You will work cross-functionally to align scientific evidence generation with holistic product design and commercialization goals. The ideal candidate combines technical expertise with strong leadership, project management, and stakeholder engagement skills to foster innovation and deliver breakthrough results.

Your responsibilities

will include:Lead, manage, and develop a team of 3-6 engineers and scientistsSupport the career growth and well-being of your team by providing regular feedback, mentorship, and professional development opportunitiesDrive a culture of innovation and excellence in new product development (NPD) through thoughtful technical leadership and talent developmentApply critical thinking to influence business outcomes through insightful analysis and strategic guidanceLead the design and execution of complex scientific experiments, including requirements development, methodology design, testing, and technical documentationDeliver compelling scientific evidence for internal and external stakeholders, ensuring alignment across preclinical models and regulatory needsChampion customer-centric approaches in medical device evidence generationCollaborate across functions to support product commercialization and indication expansionPromote diversity, equity, and inclusion within the team and organizationEffectively manage change in a dynamic and fast-paced environmentRequired Qualifications:BS or MS degree in Biomedical Engineering or a related disciplineMinimum of 5 years' experience in medical device therapy supportDemonstrated experience in product development within a regulated environmentProven track record of supporting product launches through preclinical model development and executionStrong technical and project leadership with the ability to meet key business objectivesSkilled in cross-functional collaboration, influencing without authority, and leading project teamsPassion for solving complex problems and improving user outcomesExcellent written and verbal communication skillsPreferred qualifications:Knowledge of cardiac therapiesExperience engaging with key opinion leaders to guide product strategyFamiliarity with global regulatory processes, including IDEs or product approvalsStrong technical writing and documentation skills for communicating scientific resultsSelf-starter who thrives in ambiguity and can drive alignment across teamsWillingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed
