Supervises: Social Work Coordinator, Transition Coordinator, Health Services Coordinator, Northfield Student Support Services, Administrative Assistant, and Grade Level Assistant Principal

Position Overview:

Provides leadership at the Northfield Campus, overseeing and directing all campus student services including social work, health services, and the work of the Graduating Class Team at Northfield including discipline, restorative practices, and MTSS monitoring and interventions. Coordinates student services efforts in collaboration with the Associate Principal of Student Services - Winnetka Campus. Oversees 8th grade transition process. Supervises the campus administrative services (master schedule, operations, attendance/mailroom). Coordinates with Winnetka Campus Administration. Serves as member of the District's Title IX Coordinator Team, is the Title IX Building Coordinator, and serves on the campus and district leadership teams.
Qualifications:
  • Accomplished, experienced educator
  • Master's/advanced degree in relevant field
  • Valid Illinois Professional Educator License with a high school level endorsement and General Administrative endorsement or Principal Endorsement
  • Valid Illinois Qualified Evaluator Certification
  • Five years of teaching experience preferred
  • Two years of successful leadership and/or administrative experience preferred
  • Exemplifies characteristics and dispositions as expressed in New Trier Candidate Profile

Responsibilities (Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned)

1. Evaluation and Supervision of Staff
  1. Supervises and evaluates the Assistant Principal of Graduating Class at Northfield, Freshman Adviser Chairs, Transition Coordinator, Health Services Coordinator, and the Social Work Coordinator
  2. Evaluates assigned faculty members as designated by the Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction and works closely with teachers' primary supervisors in producing the summative evaluation and rating
  3. Supervises personnel in MTSS and intervention programs at the Northfield Campus
  4. Supervises assigned support staff

2. Campus Leadership
  1. Assumes the responsibility of the Principal in the Principal's absence
  2. Collaborates with Northfield Campus Principal in overseeing the Northfield Campus Leadership Team including leadership development and coordination of campus initiatives
  3. Leads the process for incoming freshmen in collaboration with the Northfield Campus Principal, the Freshman Adviser Chairs, and Transition Coordinator.
  4. Works with the Assistant Principal of Graduating Class Team and the Northfield Campus Principal to manage TrevTips hotline
  5. Works with the Facilities and Custodial Managers re: maintenance, improvement, use of facilities, room usage, etc.
  6. Assists with supervision of extracurricular activities including concerts, dances, athletic contests, and other events

3. Student Services Leadership
  1. Oversees the Adviser Program with Associate Principal of Student Services
  2. Works with District and campus administration to facilitate achievement of strategic planning goals
  3. Oversees attendance policies and procedures at the Northfield Campus and is a member of the District-wide committee
  4. Assists Assistant Principal of Graduating Class Team, in decisions that may result in student program changes, Social Work counseling, parent conferences, suspensions or recommendations for expulsion, and prepares formal expulsion documents for presentation to the Board of Education
  5. Collaborates with the on-site police liaison officer and township police departments in student disciplinary matters
  6. Works with district-wide student services leadership across both campuses to develop Tier 1 universal strategies and Tiers 2 and 3 student intervention programs appropriate for the Northfield Campus
  7. Participates in district-wide student services meetings of leaders and assists Assistant Superintendent of Student Services and Special Education in planning topics
  8. Collaborates with the Assistant Principals - Graduating Class Teams, Associate Principal of Student Services, and Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction to make final selections of new advisers
  9. Co-Chairs the Discipline Policy Review Committee and Concussion Oversight Team with the Associate Principal of Student Services - Winnetka Campus to review discipline policies and recommend changes to the Board of Education

4. Administrative Services
  1. Develops, coordinates, and executes the course selection and scheduling procedures for the Northfield Campus
  2. Prepares a campus master schedule that optimizes curricular, staff, and space resources. Makes decisions on factors related to preparing an optimal master schedule
  3. Assists the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction with sectioning and staffing process and attends all sectioning meetings to inform master schedule building process
  4. Works with Assistant Principal and department coordinators to provide students with appropriate schedules. Reviews schedules to identify conflicts and class size imbalances, including gender and students with formalized accommodations; prepares and executes a plan for resolution
  5. Participates in AP Tech meetings
  6. Assists in establishing calendars and bell schedules for events such as final exams, extended Adviser periods, grade distribution with the Associate Principals on the Winnetka Campus
  7. Coordinates schedules for semester exams at the Northfield Campus, including assigning rooms and proctors

5. Other
  1. Serves as a Title IX Building Coordinator and collaborates with the District Title IX Coordinator on all investigations
  2. Collaborates with other administrators on reviews and updates to Board policies and administrative procedures
  3. Clear and Present Danger Campus Reporter
  4. Serves as the Hearing Officer on all disciplinary appeals
  5. Works closely with the technology staff regarding the student information system and student data collection
  6. Participates on District Administrative Team, providing leadership and contributing to discussions and decisions at the district level
  7. Leads campus and district-wide committees, as assigned
  8. Approves all building key requests
  9. Assumes responsibility for his/her own professional growth and development through membership and participation in professional organizations, attendance at regional, state, and national meetings, and enrollment in advanced courses
