Associated Fire Protection is seeking a skilled Fire Extinguisher Technician to join our team. As a Fire Extinguisher Technician, you will be responsible for performing repairs, testing and recharging of fire extinguishers, as well as assisting in the Shop as needed. About Us Associated Fire Protection, founded in 1947, is a leader in fire protection and life safety. We have offices located through New Jersey and New York, as well as a branch in Utah. Essential Functions - including but not limited to: Complete inspection reports and repair work orders via mobile device and submit them on a timely basis. Pull material for jobs as required. Repair, test, and recharge fire extinguishers. Assist with deliveries, and the loading and unloading of trucks. Assist with the installations and maintenance of both portable and fire suppression systems, as needed. Perform fire extinguisher training as needed. Interact with customers on the job in a professional manner. Communicate with customers to review work and answer any service, quality or technical questions. Other job specific functions may be required depending on level. Participate in on-call rotation for emergency service. General Functions This position includes a lot of interaction with customers and coworkers. The successful candidate must be able to communicate effectively and enjoy collaboration with others. The successful candidate should read and be aligned with companys mission statement, vision and values. Depending on skill level, the successful candidate must be able to manage, lead and mentor people. Qualifications, Experience and Education - including but not limited to: Minimum of 1-2 years of experience working on fire extinguishers is required. Must be able to obtain any licenses or certifications as required in the area that you are working. Experience working with fire protection and suppression systems is preferred. Perform simple tasks independently. Knowledge of local and national fire protection codes. Strong problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Computer, phone and tablet literate. Ability to perform physical and mental functions of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation. Well organized, self-motivated, flexible and a team player. Must be able to drive to and from jobs and have a valid driver's license. Must be able to work flexible hours and overtime as needed. Emergency Service shifts are a requirement for this job. Ability to work on job sites that may include construction sites and other locations where personal protective equipment will be required, and work in confined spaces. The position has frequent periods of stress. Job sites may include schools, hospitals, jails, pharmaceutical companies and other companies that may require additional background checks and medical and drug screens.
