Purpose

The Facilities Technician is responsible for monitoring mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems that support cleanrooms and facilities. They make real time decisions to react to changing in conditions.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain the facility within operating parameters, including adjusting systems to control water, air, pressure, temperature, and dew point.

  • Monitor and control fire, electrical and mechanical systems that support the cleanroom and facilities using SCADA and Building Automation systems.

  • Perform rounds each shift. Record conditions of systems each shift from direct observation. Systems include, but are not limited to compressed dry air, cooling towers, boilers, fire pumps, emergency generators, bulk gases, ultra-pure water, chillers, vacuum, commercial water, commercial power, waste neutralization, bulk chemical distribution.

  • Assist in the creation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the facility. This activity is performed synchronous to monitoring time spent in control room.

  • Maintenance Activities: Respond to maintenance service requests.

  • Complete assigned preventive maintenance activities.

  • Other related functions as assigned.

Required Qualifications
  • Operative knowledge of air handlers, air compressors, boilers, chillers, exhaust scrubbers, pneumatics, waste neutralization, and liquid distribution.

  • General knowledge of semiconductor facilities operations for utilities, waste processing and water systems.

  • Operating knowledge of dry air, inert gas pipefitting.

  • Basic computer skills, including experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

  • Excellent communication skills.

  • Attention to detail.

  • Mechanical skill and affinity.

  • Self-starter, able to work with a sense of urgency.

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate or bachelor‘s degree

  • 2 years‘ experience with BAS or SCADA control systems.

  • 4 years‘ experience in a semiconductor facilities environment.

Salary Range

$30 per hour + depending on qualifications

Working Conditions
  • 60% of time in Stationary position, often sitting and/or standing for prolonged periods.

    • Viewing a computer monitor for prolonged periods.

  • 40% of time walking around the site for prolonged periods.

    • Occasionally required to push and/or pull objects of 50+ lbs.

    • Occasionally required to lift and carry for short distances objects of 50+ lbs.

    • Frequently required reach, bend, twist, squat, kneel, or stoop to access and work on equipment.

    • May require different positions and motions in tight or confined spaces.

    • Occasionally required to climb ladders and other secure structures, as well as maintain balance.

    • Occasionally required to operate forklifts, boom lifts, motorized and non-motorized pallet jacks, and other powered equipment.

    • Occasionally required to wear PPE, including hearing protection, chemical gowns, face masks, and gloves.

    • Occasionally required to perform inert air pipefitting and light cleanroom maintenance work, such as installing Unistrut on a wall, or gauges on a line.

  • Often requires repetitive motions involving the wrists, hands, or fingers.

  • Work occurs inside and outside in all seasons. Expect conditions from hot to cold, wet to arid. Personal protective equipment is required to prevent hazardous exposures. Alarms, unscheduled calls, and static and abrupt noises are expected.

  • TIE maintains two cleanrooms. This position is based in the MER building of the JJPRC, but service requests may require travel to south Austin, at the MR3 building of the MRC.

Monday - Friday, 7am - 4pm
