Job Overview:

Yard Hostler /Jockey is responsible for moving trailers to and from dock doors and around the yard. The role involves ensuring timely and safe delivery of goods within the facility, maintaining equipment, and adhering to safety regulations and company policies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Trailer Movement:
  • Safely move trailers to and from loading docks.
  • Ensure trailers are properly secured before movement.
  • Maneuver trailers in tight spaces.
  • Equipment Operation:
  • Operate yard tractors or shunt trucks to move trailers.
  • Perform routine inspections of vehicles and equipment.
  • Report any mechanical issues or damage.
  • Safety and Compliance:
  • Follow all safety protocols and guidelines.
  • Comply with DOT regulations and company policies.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Coordination:
  • Communicate effectively with warehouse staff and supervisors.
  • Coordinate with the dispatch team for trailer assignments.
  • Assist in the loading and unloading process as needed.
  • Documentation:
  • Maintain accurate records of trailer movements.
  • Complete required paperwork and logs.

Qualifications:
  • Education:
    • High school diploma or equivalent.
    • Licenses and Certifications:
    • Valid CDL A license.
    • Clean driving record.
  • Experience:
    • Previous experience as a Hosler or yard jockey is preferred.
    • Experience in a warehouse or distribution environment is beneficial.
  • Skills:
    • Strong communication skills.
    • Ability to operate heavy machinery safely.
    • Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
    • Physical stamina and ability to handle the demands of the job.
    • Able to work 5 days a week from 8pm-5am (off Tuesdays & Saturdays)
