Property AccountantWPM is looking for a Property Accountant to join our team in Owings Mills, MD. As the Property Accountant, you will maintain records of account receivables for properties under management.The rate of pay for this position is $21.83 per hour.Essential Functions:Ensures that all rent-related monies received by the company are properly identified, recorded, deposited into the correct property's bank account and recorded properly in the accounting system.Ensures accuracy of leasing information entered into the accounting system.Receives and reviews paperwork from properties pertaining to resident moves out, preparing security disposition letters and requesting refunded security deposits from accounts payable.Documents residents who are delinquent in their rent payments after the 5th day of each month, prepares and signs Failure to Pay Rent Court Notices, check requests and checks.Prepares and sends paperwork to attorney for collection actions, attending court with the attorney, as required. Tracks late and court fees in the accounting system.Notifies Property Managers of trial dates and case numbers, providing the Rent Court Agent with documentation necessary for them to represent the company in Rent Court matters.Prepares and sends late notices and monthly statements as needed.Processes month end reports and files.Responds to inquiries from residents, managers, leasing agents, etc., preparing formal correspondence, as necessary.Provide support for 4+ properties and all staff.Maintain accurate files for 900+ units, including digitally saving all paperwork and correspondence with the resident and site staff.Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Skilled at an intermediate level of proficiency with Microsoft OutlookBasic understanding of Microsoft Word and ExcelFamiliarity with Entrata or other property management accounting systemsAbility to work effectively in teamsAbility to operate standard office equipment, including, but not limited to standard calculators, copy machines, fax machines, telephones and computersAbility to manage multiple deadlines and tasksMust possess strong research abilitiesAbility to communicate effectively verbally and in writingAbility to work independently and self motivateAbility to use tact in communicating difficult messagesRequired Skills:Team Player: Works well as a member of a groupAttention to Detail: Capable of carrying out a given task with all details necessary to get the task done wellPreferred Skills:Accounting software: NoviceRequired Behaviors:Team PlayerDetail OrientedPreferred Education:High School or better.Preferred Experience:Work Experience in Multi-Family Housing is a plus. Work Experience with Entrata is a plus.
