Overview

Our light industrial facility in Columbus is hiring for a Lead Engineer.

The objective of the Engineering Leader is to establish and maintain effective, efficient and repeatable processes. The Engineer Leader also supports production personnel with solutions to overall performance problems.  


Responsibilities

  • Safety is our overriding priority.  If an unsafe condition is found to exist, actions must be taken immediately to correct the situation to keep all team members safe and get manufacturing equipment operational as soon as possible.
  • Ability to effectively manage time and meet specified deadlines.
  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures including the use of PPE and safety equipment.
  • Participate in continuous improvement, 5S, and other lean manufacturing initiatives.
  • Continuously improve the general housekeeping, organization of equipment, tools, and supplies to keep workstations as efficient as possible.
  • Maintain an organized and efficient work area.
  • The Lead Engineer will oversee Process engineering, machinist and mold mechanic personnel for troubleshooting events, process improvements, tooling modifications and repairs.
  • Oversee PPAP and EWR run offs of new or existing tooling.
  • Analyze data on injection molding processes for optimal improvement opportunities.
  • Scope, spec, and assist in the design of plastic injection molding equipment and tooling.
  • Develop and execute scrap reduction and cycle reductions.
  • Work with Project Controls team on troubleshooting of injection molding machine issues.
  • Assist Project Controls team with commissioning of automation equipment for injection molding machines.
  • Grow knowledge of the facility team by implementing training programs for setup mechanics, machinist, and mold mechanics.
  • Assist safety department in risk assessment of injection molding machines and machining equipment

Qualifications

  • 4 years of plastics experience.
  • Engineering/Plastics Engineering Degree required.
  • Proven satisfactory work history (attendance and performance). This must be maintained.
  • Attendance is critical to this position.
  • Proficient with CAD drawing packages and able to update drawing packages as needed.
  • Strong computer skills, including knowledge of Word, PowerPoint, Excel and database software
  • Familiar with all aspects of scientific injection molding process.
  • Must be able to provide good Leadership and training as required.
  • Project Management.
  • Excellent communication and documentation.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS, ENVIRONMENT:

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
