Sr. HVAC Controls Technician

Sr. Hvac Controls TechnicianWe are seeking an Sr. HVAC Controls Technician to join our federal team based at Oak Ridge, Tennessee. We have a growing team of experienced Controls Technicians and Chiller Mechanics currently supporting Oak Ridge National Laboratory and Y-12 National Security Complex on a full-time basis. We have the opportunity to continue to build our team and are looking for an experienced Controls Technician for the extensive Metasys site system. A suitable candidate would have excellent communication skills and thrive in a team environment. ORNL is a complex environment with many unique systems reporting back to our Metasys system. The "Worlds Fastest Super Computer" resides at ORNL and our Metasys system is responsible for cooling the computer. ORNL has several central chiller plants and boiler plant that feed utilities site wide. Y-12 has more than 100 buildings on site and our Metasys system is continuing to expand. We currently have approximately 35 of these facilities on our system. The facilities range from chiller plants to general office space. We help modernize U.S. military installations, Department of Defense and other federal agency facilities to be smarter, more resilient, efficient, sustainable, and secure.Eligible for benefits on first day of employmentVacation: 3 weeks of paid vacation per calendar yearAs a Sr. HVAC Controls Technician, you will:Perform preventive maintenance, repair, installation, commissioning, point-to-point checkouts, troubleshooting and/or replacement of HVAC controls systems & equipment, and building control systemsDiagnose and repair a variety of electronic and digital control system malfunctionsTest and perform modifications to systems software when neededAssist with sketching and documenting field changes and discrepancies for engineering corrections and drawingsProvide training and associated manuals and documentation to customers on electronic control systems operationsProvides support to mechanical staff to troubleshoot issuesEnsure work performed complies with company, state, local and federal regulations, industry standards and guidelines, and customer requirementsCompile project documentation, such as certificate of completion, customer training forms, training certificates and punch listsConduct self-study (reading, research and practice) to improve and maintain technical proficiency in company's product lines; completes certifications as requiredRead and properly interpret blueprints, diagrams, submittals, specifications, software/systems programs, schematics and operational product manualsAdhere to Johnson Controls and customer safety standards, provide safety awareness leadership and instruction to technicians and subcontractors on Johnson Controls work sitesRequired Qualifications:3+ years of experience commissioning, troubleshooting, installing or doing point-to-point checks with Direct Digital Control (DDC) systemsKnowledge of a variety of electronic or digital controls systems, HVAC controls systems, facilities management systems, site preparation, peripheral equipment installation and servicing techniquesMust be able to obtain and maintain required security clearances (background/character, criminal history, employment, and credit checks)Preferred Experience:Programming and/or troubleshooting various brands of HVAC controls products is highly desired, Metasys being the most preferred.Experience with BAS communication protocols; BACnet MSTP, BACnet IP, N2, P1, Modbus, LON, etcProficiency with Johnson Controls Metasys (DDC) system highly preferredExperience using SMP, SCT, and/or CCTControl system design experienceProgramming of DDC systems from sequences provided by engineeringPreferred Education:Associate degree (or equivalent experience) in electronics, mechanical systems, computer technology, air conditioningThe primary mission of Johnson Controls Navy Systems is to supply Chilled Water Air Conditioning, Refrigeration Systems and associated equipment to the US Navy and US Coast Guard.
