External applicants must be eligible to work in the US.Your RoleThe Associate Director of External Communications will play a pivotal role in shaping and conveying our corporate narrative to external stakeholders. The ideal candidate will develop key messaging and assets that support our corporate objectives, enhance our brand reputation, and engage our audience effectively. This position requires a strategic thinker with a strong background in communications, who will oversee the management of social media platforms and corporate websites.Duties Include:Develop strategic communication plan to strengthen corporate visibilityIdeation and implementation of opportunistic media outreach anglesIdentifying external engagement/visibility opportunities for US Leadership TeamOversight of EMDS digital channels (e.g., social, website) in close collaboration with global social/digital teamDevelopment and maintenance of key corporate pieces (e.g., narrative/messaging, corporate boilerplate, corporate deck, corporate fact sheet, etc.)Crisis comms managementAct as company spokesperson for key media, as neededLead strategy and execution of key US corporate milestones, in addition to supporting global milestones with US impactIdeate new ways to bring EMD Serono visibility into Boston areaWho You AreMinimum Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related fieldMinimum of 5 years of experience in external communications, public relations, or corporate communicationsProven experience in managing social media and corporate websites, with a strong understanding of best practices and analytics.Exceptional writing, editing, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and persuasively.Strong strategic thinking and project management skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across departments.Experience in crisis communication and reputation management is a plus.Location: Boston, MA (Seaport); HybridTravel:
