RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Leading complex capital project-related engineering and design activities in alignment with company objectives and Engineering & Property Services (E&PS) IDEA Project Delivery Practices.
  • Defining, identifying, and securing appropriate tools and technical resources, coordinating the efforts of internal teams and third-party design firms or consultants to deliver projects on schedule.
  • Participating in setting regional operational strategies, achieving business-focused goals and objectives, and developing personal and team talent within the Global and Regional E&D function.
  • Collaborating with external equipment and system suppliers to enhance and develop the standard design platform.
  • Working with company Operating Company Teams and E&PS Project Managers to ensure the correct implementation of design elements by third-party A/E firms.
  • Preparing Requests for Proposal (RFP) for Architect/Engineer (A/E) services, leading the interview/selection and onboarding process.
  • Preparing and negotiating standard company contracts with A/E firms for design works.
  • Leading the front-end design process, covering all aspects of design (Architecture, Mechanical, Electrical, Process, Automation, etc.) in close collaboration with the operating company team.
  • Ensuring adherence to the company's IDEA Project Delivery Process.
  • Working with the Engineering & Design Director and Project Directors/Managers to lead A/E firm performance (cost, schedule, quality) and define corrective action plans as needed.
  • Collaborating closely with EHS on the deployment of wastewater guidelines.
  • Developing yearly regional goals and objectives that support overall company E&PS goals.
  • Executing short and long-term tactical engineering plans and programs based on strategic departmental plans.
  • Building networks and maintain extensive contacts.
  • Understanding and applying the company Flawless Project Execution (FPX) process for project delivery.
  • Maintaining working relationships with the IT and EHS organizations to ensure the integration of IT systems and EHS requirements into water SDP's.
  • Ensuring application of Value Engineering and Constructability Reviews in projects.
  • Ensuring appropriate company standards, guidelines, and regulatory requirements are incorporated.
  • Coordinating and leading key design reviews with SMEs, including other corporate or affiliate resources such as EHSS, Risk Management, and WW Security.
  • Ensuring projects meet the company Sustainability policy and drive the LEED certification process.
  • Reviewing A/E progress and identifying action plans where required, implementing Earned Value tracking on larger projects.
  • Leading efforts to resolve key design conflicts during construction and commissioning phases.
  • Participating in the final close-out with the A/E firm, including the Lessons Learned process.
  • Mentoring younger engineers focused on water through training and one-on-one sessions.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum 10+ years of relevant experience in design leadership
  • Extensive experience with GMP facility design, including cleanrooms, warehouses, offices, and labs.
  • Proficiency in project/design management, including project definition, prioritization, and ensuring resources, capabilities, and processes are in place for efficient design delivery.
  • Prior experience in a lead role at an A/E Design Firm or directly leading A/E Firms is advantageous.
  • Ability to develop appropriate metrics for design firm performance and implement continuous improvement plans.
  • Demonstrated history of collaboration across functional areas to establish effective working relationships.
  • Expertise in delivering complex projects/programs on schedule and within budget while working with project teams.
  • Training in Flawless Project Execution (FPX) is a plus.
  • Professional License is a plus.


EDUCATION

  • B.S. in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical) or closely related technical degree
  • Advanced degree (M.S. / MBA) is a plus
