Heavy Equipment MechanicSuperior Skilled Trades is seeking a skilled and dependable Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join a busy and well-established mechanic shop in Baltimore, MD. This direct hire opportunity offers long-term stability with full benefits and the chance to work with a respected team in the logistics and cargo handling industry.The Heavy Equipment Mechanic will play a vital role in diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing a wide range of heavy machineryincluding forklifts, bulldozers, front loaders, and backhoesto support efficient day-to-day operations.Key ResponsibilitiesInspect, diagnose, and repair heavy equipment such as forklifts, front loaders, bulldozers, and backhoesPerform scheduled maintenance (e.g., oil changes, tire rotations, filter replacements) to ensure peak performanceTroubleshoot and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical system issuesUse diagnostic software and tools to evaluate and pinpoint equipment malfunctionsRebuild, replace, or upgrade faulty components as neededConduct safety checks to meet operational standards and regulatory complianceWork with other departments to minimize equipment downtime and improve reliabilityMaintain accurate service records, inspection reports, and maintenance logsSupport emergency repairs and assist with on-site service when necessaryComply with all environmental, health, and safety guidelinesQualifications & SkillsHigh school diploma or equivalentMinimum of 4 years' experience maintaining and repairing heavy equipment in industrial, transportation, port, or logistics environmentsAt least 2 years' experience with diesel engine replacementStrong working knowledge of hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systemsExcellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilitiesAbility to work effectively under pressure and in a fast-paced environmentStrong time management, multitasking, and teamwork skillsPhysical RequirementsAbility to sit, stand, or lie under equipment for extended periodsMust be able to lift up to 20 poundsComfortable working in physically demanding conditionsNote: This job description outlines general responsibilities and may be subject to change.
