We are committed to building a best-in-class organization by empowering top talent with the resources, autonomy, and support needed to deliver results and advance their careers in a high-performance environment.Role OverviewAs a Director of Business Development, you are responsible for developing Cortland Build's go-to-market strategy for its various service offerings, establishing business and sales relationships, and leading the analysis and management of pursuit opportunities. Here are the roles you'll play:The StrategistDevelop annual business development plans for target market sectors; update plans on a quarterly basisKeep abreast of the competitive landscape and develop strategies to differentiate Cortland BuildLead creation of marketing/proposal collateralPartner strategically with management relative to assigned market initiativesThe People PersonEstablish business and sales relationships with potential clients and allies; build relationships across multiple levels of accounts and constituentsGenerate leads and engage senior management to maximize opportunitiesCollaborate with other groups within the company to address business opportunities, overcome obstacles, and explore any cross-selling opportunities availableProvide leadership in development of RFQ and RFP responses, presenting compelling value propositions to prospects/customersThe Go-GetterIdentify, understand, qualify, quantify, prioritize, and track pursuit opportunitiesStay up to date on trends/opportunities, participating in trade shows and other networking eventsWork to meet and exceed sales targets in specific target market sectorsManage the sales pipeline to ensure opportunities are pursued in a timely manner and expectations are metQualificationsStrong 10+ years of experience in construction industry with a strong emphasis on sales and strategy development, including proven success in winning business within challenging marketsExperience in the multifamily industry preferredBachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Sales, or related major or equivalent experience requiredExcellent business finance and operations acumenStrong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skillsExcellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skillsProficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applicationsAbout CortlandFounded in 2005, Cortland is an international, vertically integrated multifamily real estate investment, development, and management firm with a resident-centric approach to living experiences.
