Data Scientist II IS Clinical Innovations Job Description
The R&D division of Research Information Solutions and Innovation has a diverse portfolio of clinical informatics research projects ranging from clinical genomics business data mining Hadoop and big data ytics predictive ytics to social mobile and cloud (SoMoClo) applications. These projects are highly collaborative involving partners in Clinical Informatics Hospital IS physicians researchers and administrators both internally and externally.
The Data Scientist II position will be part of a team of Data Scientists and ysts working to organize and yze large sets of data or complex data sets to discover hidden patterns trends and ociation in support of research operation and clinical care at Nationwide Childrens Hospital. The candidate must be experienced in leveraging both structured and unstructured data sets to create ytical solutions using tools and/or ods in at least two of the following areas: statistical and predictive ysis natural language processing geospatial ysis and machine learning. The candidate must be able to verbally and visually communicate clearly to all level of stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Participate in requirement gathering technical design and implementation.
- Provide time estimates and help with project planning.
- Work both independently and in small teams to develop ytic solutions.
- Work with both clinical and research data while keeping PHI exposure to a needonly basis.
- Build ytics pipeline and functionality best practice for statistical predictive NLP geospatial ysis and machine learning.
- Share knowledge and be a good team player.

Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE SS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
- Candidates must possess a Masters degree and above in Computer Science Engineering Mathematics Statistics Clinical Informatics Nurse Informatics or a related discipline.
- 3 years scripting language experience or software development experience using Java Python and R.
- 5 years of data manipulation and ysis using SQL noSQL Java Python and R etc.
- 4 years of relevant data ytics experience in one or more of the following areas: statistical modeling machine learning natural language processing (NLP) and geographical information system (GIS).
- 4 years experience in working with clinical data.
- Familiarity in working with big data real time or near real time data and big data platforms are strongly preferred.
- Strong desire to learn and highly collaborative
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication ss to interact effectively with all levels of the organization and external contacts.
