This role involves a blend of hands-on process development, chemical processing, and engineering support to optimize production systems. The Materials Engineer will work closely with engineering, operations, and R&D teams to evaluate material properties, develop and refine processing methods, and support the design and implementation of production-scale systems. Success in this role requires strong technical problem-solving skills, a hands-on approach, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. RESPONSIBILITIESProcess Development & Scale-Up Support the transition of materials and chemical processes from lab-scale development to production-scale manufacturing. Develop and optimize processing parameters to ensure consistent quality, yield, and performance. Work hands-on with processing equipment to support installation, troubleshooting, and optimization. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and implement process improvements. Engineering & Design Support Contribute to the design and refinement of processing systems, tooling, and fixtures. Work with mechanical and process engineers to support scale-up projects. Assist with technical documentation, specifications, and process control methods. Documentation & Collaboration Document procedures, process parameters, and test results in accordance with quality standards. Communicate technical findings, issues, and recommendations clearly to engineering and operations teams. Participate in cross-functional problem-solving and project planning efforts. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's degree in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or related field; advanced degree a plus. Experience in materials processing, chemical Engineering, or manufacturing environments. Hands-on experience with materials testing, processing equipment, or pilot-scale operations. Familiarity with process scale-up, process control, and production system design. Strong analytical skills and experience with material property evaluation methods. Ability to work hands-on with processing equipment and contribute to system troubleshooting. Demonstrated problem-solving skills and ability to work both independently and collaboratively. Excellent communication skills and comfort working in a cross-functional environment.
