Overview

The national offices of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), based in Louisville Kentucky, serve with mid-councils, congregations, worshipping communities, and partner organizations to carry forth the mission of Jesus Christ. Basic Commitment: This position calls for a commitment to the mission of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) as noted in its theological confessions, the Book of Order, and the actions of the General Assembly.

The Senior Administrative Assistant demonstrates a commitment to continue to dismantle white supremacy, sexism and racism in the Office of the General Assembly and the PC(U.S.A.). The position fosters collaboration, innovation and openness with colleagues, constituents and the wider church. The role is full time working Monday to Friday 40 hours per work week, onsite in Louisville, KY.

Purpose of the Position: SeniorAdministrative Assistant supports the work of the Director of General Assembly Planning and the Office of the Stated Clerk. The work involves interaction with Presbyterian Center staff at all levels, assembly commissioners, mid council staff, etc. It involves responsibility for a wide range of critical tasks and duties, and a high degree of accountability.

Duties and Responsibilities: (in order of importance)of the position include, but are not limited to:
  1. Coordinates with staff assigned as support for special and standing committees to assist with travel and meal arrangements, on-site logistical needs, and processing of invoices.
  2. Serves as primary registrar for the General Assembly, coordinating with staff on registration process, implementation, and direct assistance with participants.
  3. Supports the work of the Director of GA Planning and other members of the Office of the Stated Clerk as assigned. Duties may include the scheduling of meetings and tracking assignments.
  4. Supports the General Assembly Planning Team with assisting meeting coordination, project management, communications, and other work as assigned.
  5. During the General Assembly, coordinate registration and information operations or other roles as assigned.
  6. Other duties as assigned.

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.

Required Qualifications:

3-5 years of administrative experience, or post-secondary degree in related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Excellent communication skills both oral and written. Able to use current hardware and software technologies. Experience using Microsoft Office applications (especially Outlook, Word, and Excel). Openness to learning new technologies, workflows, and processes. Excellent organizational skills. Customer Service skills and experience, including phone etiquette and effective communication with individuals seeking information. Ability to work with personal information and maintain discretion and tact. Ability to work in times of transition and/or stress. Ability to work in a consultative and collaborative style. Commitment to the value and benefits of working with diverse people. A commitment and openness to intercultural proficiency, equity, and inclusion.

Desired Qualifications: Working knowledge of Presbyterian Church (U.S.A) and its structures/systems. Demonstrated proficiency in handling customer service interactions with diplomacy. Familiarity with Korean, Spanish, or an additional language would serve as an added benefit to the role.

Sensory or Physical Requirements: Ability to work on a computer for extended periods of time. Ability to travel to meetings, conferences, and the biennial General Assembly. Ability to transport computer and other technological equipment.
