Tax ManagerLocation: 6000 Monroe Rd, Charlotte, North Carolina 28212Summary: The Tax Manager is primarily responsible for the completion of all appropriate tax returns and ensures compliance with Hendrick Automotive Group (HAG) policies and external regulations. Responsible for meeting tax department deadlines. Supervisory Responsibilities: This job has direct supervisory responsibilities. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesReview and/or prepare federal, state, local, and special tax returns for partnerships, S-corporations, C-corporations, trusts and individualsReview and/or prepare LIFO calculations for all dealershipsReview fixed asset schedules for depreciation for all dealershipsReview various year end tax calculations such as computation of demo wagesRespond to state and federal tax notices on behalf of our dealershipsImplements accounting policy changes related to tax issuesAssist in gathering information for tax auditsAssist Senior Accounting Managers with any tax questions they may haveResearch federal, state and local tax issuesOversee the supervision of the tax staffResponsible for scheduling Tax Department assignmentsMaintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops or classes, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks and participating in professional societies.QualificationsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Advanced knowledge of applicable tax law and regulations.Certificates and Licenses:Valid Driver's LicenseCertified Public AccountantComputer Skills: Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Products. Ability to learn the Spreadsheet software, tax software, and other software programs for operational needs.Communication Skills: Ability to understand and follow instructions. Ability to communicate effectively with attorneys, tax specialists and company personnel.Attendance Expectations: The position requires regular and predictable attendance. Scheduled hours may include evening hours, weekends, and holidays to meet required deadlines.Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; and sit. The employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel.Environment Demands: Duties are performed primarily in an office environment at the management office and on occasion in dealerships. Position requires frequent interaction with Management Office employees, dealership management and dealership employees.Verbal and Writing Ability: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of Executive management, groups of managers, vendors, and the general public.Math Ability: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions and percentages.Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
