We are seeking a Structural Engineer (Forensics) to join our team and provide in-depth investigative evaluations related to structural engineering failures, building envelope performance, and civil engineering issues. The ideal candidate will have expertise in analyzing civil/structural data, performing hands-on site investigations, and documenting findings to determine the root cause of building system failures. This role requires a self-motivated, technically proficient engineer with strong client-facing skills and a commitment to producing precise, unbiased reports. Experience with both residential and commercial projects is essential.Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct forensic investigations to evaluate the design, construction, and adherence to industry standards for residential and commercial structures, including geotechnical engineering, soil-structure interaction, structural systems, civil sitework, building envelopes, and moisture/thermal performance.

  • Assess a variety of structures, including single-family homes, multi-family complexes, commercial buildings, industrial facilities, institutional structures, and ancillary features such as retaining walls, swimming pools, and exterior cladding systems.

  • Collect and document comprehensive data during site investigations, including visual observations, measurement, and structural testing.

  • Analyze civil and structural testing data to determine failure mechanisms and provide clear, accurate conclusions.

  • Perform technical research to support findings and provide expert insights into engineering and construction issues.

  • Prepare detailed, factual, and unbiased written reports of forensic site investigations based on field assessments and in-depth analysis.

  • Collaborate effectively with the engineering team, ensuring timely communication and coordination throughout the investigative process.

  • Meet project deadlines consistently, especially during high-demand periods.
    Communicate technical findings and recommendations to clients, presenting complex information in a clear and accessible manner.

  • Develop and maintain professional, trust-based relationships with clients, based on knowledge, experience, and integrity.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.

  • Minimum 5 years of professional experience in structural engineering, forensic engineering, or a related field.

  • Registered Professional Engineer (PE) in Texas.

  • Expertise in both residential and commercial structural assessments and forensic investigations.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare technical reports and present findings clearly.

  • Self-motivated with a proven ability to work independently and deliver high-quality client service.
