Description

The modern, high-tech dental clinic at NorthPoint Health & Wellness Center is seeking a Senior Dental Assistant to facilitate clinical operations while acting as a lead worker for dental assistants who assist with general restorative, oral surgery, prosthodontic, endodontic, and pediatric dental procedures, in addition to performing expanded functions such as pedo prophies, digital radiography, and placement of sealants.

Location and hours:
This position is located at the NorthPoint Health & Wellness Center at 2220 Plymouth Avenue North, Minneapolis, Minnesota 55411 and will also include time at the satellite clinic at 800 West Broadway Avenue, Minneapolis, Minnesota 55411. Work hours will typically be Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. with one Saturday every other month from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. Some Thursdays from 10:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. may also be required.

In this position, you will: Act as a lead worker for the Dental Assistants, assist with scheduling work assignments, delegate duties, and provide input for staff performance evaluations. Participate in selection of new staff and provide orientation and training for both new and existing staff. Monitor and order dental supplies and maintain dental department equipment in accordance with the manufacturer's directions and dental department policy and protocol. Monitor patient flow and assist staff to ensure all patient services are rendered appropriately. Fill in for Dental Assistant absences as needed and assist chairside with diagnostic, oral surgery, fixed and removable prosthodontics, endodontics, pedodontics, and restorative procedures. Support Dental Assistants in resolving guests concerns and issues. Perform other related and/or necessary tasks to achieve organizational and programmatic goals and objectives.
Need to have: Completion of an accredited program as a dental assistant and two years or more of experience as a dental assistant. Possession of a valid license by the Minnesota Board of Dentistry.  Nice to have: Experience:Providing leadership in a clinic or health care setting.In health care business operations.Providing culturally sensitive care to patients of diverse ages, ethnicities, and countries of origin.Using Dentrix to enter and retrieve Electronic Dental Record (EDR) patient data quickly and efficiently.Maintaining Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) security and privacy compliance.Problem solving complex situations when there is a conflict or ambiguity. Successful completion of a Restorative Functions training program. Knowledge of age-related growth and development principles necessary to provide appropriate service. Ability to:Respond quickly and effectively to many competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.Help staff develop skills and build their strengths in an ever-changing work environment.Occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.Sit and/or stand for prolonged periods of time.Prepare, clean, and properly handle dental equipment and instruments.Follow proper Infection Control and Health & Safety procedures.Adhere to Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requirements.Demonstrate respect and appreciation for the diversity of co-workers and clients regardless of race, age, gender, disability, values, lifestyle perspectives, or interests.Effectively communicate with department staff, health care center staff, patients, interpreters, and the community while maintaining discretion and confidentiality.
