What you will be doing:  

Reporting to the Director of Engineering responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:

  • Maintaining and repairing all buildings and related material both interior and exterior to an acceptable standard by The Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge and related/applicable codes and regulations
  • Ensuring that all power tools either portable or permanently installed will be in good and safe working condition
  • Ensuring that all work orders assigned to the department will be done with the least possible delay especially where guest comfort is concerned
  • Training and assisting the shift maintenance people to carry out their duties in a safe and efficient manner
  • Assisting other trades with tasks that need the expertise of a journeyman
  • Communicating effectively and professionally with both guests and colleagues
  • Adhering to the hotels vehicle handling and safety policies while driving hotel and guest vehicles.
  • Other related duties as assigned.
  • Operate the facility in an environmentally friendly way recycling all materials when available
  • Ensuring that vehicles do not idle

Qualifications :

Your experience and skills include:

  • Provincial Journeypersons certificate for Province of Alberta required or third of fourth year in the Apprentice program required
  • High school and/or technical school education requirements to satisfy Trade School
  • Entrance requirements as per Alberta Apprenticeship and Industry Training Board
  • General knowledge or experience of the carpentry trade
  • Meet the minimum expectations of the Heart of House Perceiver Interview
  • Proficient in Microsoft Windows applications required ( Word Excel & Power Point )
  • Valid Alberta drivers license required    
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Strong interpersonal and problem solving abilities
  • Highly responsible & reliable
  • Ability to work well under pressure in a fastpaced environment
  • Ability to work cohesively with fellow colleagues as part of a team with minimum supervision
  • Ability to focus attention on guest needs remaining calm and courteous at all times
