What you will be doing:
Reporting to the Director of Engineering responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:
- Maintaining and repairing all buildings and related material both interior and exterior to an acceptable standard by The Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge and related/applicable codes and regulations
- Ensuring that all power tools either portable or permanently installed will be in good and safe working condition
- Ensuring that all work orders assigned to the department will be done with the least possible delay especially where guest comfort is concerned
- Training and assisting the shift maintenance people to carry out their duties in a safe and efficient manner
- Assisting other trades with tasks that need the expertise of a journeyman
- Communicating effectively and professionally with both guests and colleagues
- Adhering to the hotels vehicle handling and safety policies while driving hotel and guest vehicles.
- Other related duties as assigned.
- Operate the facility in an environmentally friendly way recycling all materials when available
- Ensuring that vehicles do not idle
Qualifications :
Your experience and skills include:
- Provincial Journeypersons certificate for Province of Alberta required or third of fourth year in the Apprentice program required
- High school and/or technical school education requirements to satisfy Trade School
- Entrance requirements as per Alberta Apprenticeship and Industry Training Board
- General knowledge or experience of the carpentry trade
- Meet the minimum expectations of the Heart of House Perceiver Interview
- Proficient in Microsoft Windows applications required ( Word Excel & Power Point )
- Valid Alberta drivers license required
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Strong interpersonal and problem solving abilities
- Highly responsible & reliable
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fastpaced environment
- Ability to work cohesively with fellow colleagues as part of a team with minimum supervision
- Ability to focus attention on guest needs remaining calm and courteous at all times
