Kelly is hiring a QA Lab Technician for one of our food manufacturing clients in Calhoun, GA


Brief Overview: monitoring 3 manufacturing lines, cleaning verification, product testing, a lot of moving parts.

Reason for opening: Team member leaving on maternity leave, temporary backfill

Duration: 5 + months

Schedule: Second shift, 2 PM to 10:30 PM, Monday through Friday, 8 hours (some Saturday). Currently working every other Saturday. Need flexibility to cover other shifts when someone is out (could be a 12 hour day from time to time)

Pay: $20.50

Qualifications: HS Diploma required. Previous food manufacturing experience is a plus (whether in production or quality). Quality oriented. Would consider AS or BS level education for someone local. Biology, food science, chemistry are okay degrees, no engineering. HM prefers experience in food manufacturing more than the educational background. SAP experience/skills is a plus.

Soft Skills: Must be able to multitask in a fast paced environment, working between both lab and manufacturing. Comfortable being on your feet the majority of the time. Good communication with many different colleagues. Must get along well with all colleagues and work well in a team environment.

Food Allergies?: Not an allergen free facility, talent must be aware. Dairy, soy, wheat, egg, sesame. They will conduct sensory evaluations on many of these products. A lot of visual and smell evaluations, but they do taste from time to time.

Primary Purpose- Laboratory Technicians work with our Production, Sanitation, Maintenance and Warehouse teams in order to provide testing of samples, data integrity, and the overall integrity of our quality and safety for all Kerry ingredients for our customers.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Perform timely physical & analytical sampling and testing on finished goods using a variety of standard test methodology.

2. Responsible for HACCP program verifications and documentation.

3. Perform laboratory equipment calibrations, record, and communicate results.

4. Perform chemical titrations on in-house sanitation chemistry.

5. Perform aseptic microbiological sampling of products and environment.

6. Communicate any finished good, raw material, HACCP, GMP, or quality non-conformances or deviations in a timely fashion with production and quality management, put any non-conform product on Hold.

7. Comply with, follow, and help implement all plant GMPs, policies, SSOPs and SOPs.

8. Communication and inter-department / intra-department teamwork.

9. Discriminating sensory evaluation, critical thinking, and problem resolution.

10. Report all Accidents and Near-Misses immediately.

11. Work with our systems to enter all of our data and run reports.

12. Line pre-operation inspection, cleaning verification, documentation, release and communication of the results.

13. Train employees on quality subjects and procedures.

14. Perform laboratory housekeeping and upkeep.

15. Work assigned schedule and cover absences, come to work on time fully prepared.

16. Other duties and projects as assigned.
