McCrone Associates, Inc., a Chicagoland leading investigational analysis laboratory, is seeking a scientist. Microscopists use polarized light microscopy and other microanalytical techniques to identify materials and contaminants in samples to help our clients answer materials analysis questions. This position requires project management, clear communication of scientific results to clients, and working in teams with scientists and support staff.
The ideal candidate will have a master‘s or doctorate degree (or equivalent work experience) in applied chemistry, forensic science, petrology, or materials science with five or more years of relevant, hands-on laboratory experience in light microscopy. Expertise in spectroscopy, including IR and Raman, is highly desired. Experience in consulting and materials analysis for industrial problem-solving and working in cGMP and ISO 17025 regulated laboratories are also desired.
Excellent oral and written communications skills and strong software skills with instrument operation and Microsoft Office applications are essential. McCrone Associates fosters a collaborative environment to solve analytical problems so strong teamwork and leadership skills are essential to managing project flow and efficiency; however, this position does not involve direct management of personnel.
