Intake Assistant – Parkville Familial Cancer Centre

The Parkville Familial Cancer Centre and Genomic Medicine Department is a comprehensive genetic service which provides diagnosis, counselling and support to adults with a variety of genetic disorders.

We provide multidisciplinary clinics for diagnosis, risk assessment and risk management, with a team of clinical geneticists, genetic counsellors, and genetic nurses, as well as committed specialists in medical and surgical disciplines appropriate to support that clinic.

Your new role:

Process new referrals for The Parkville Familial Cancer Centre. Contacting patients to explain the services of the Familial Cancer Centre Gathering family history information, obtaining cancer verifications, booking appointments Completing administration and data entry tasks related to the intake process. Assisting in coordination of the intake process with team members, and liaising with Genetic Counsellors.

About you:

You are a first or second year Master of Genetic Counselling Master of Genomics & Health or Master of Health Sciences (Genetic Counselling) student wishing to obtain experience within a well-supported and established genetic counselling service. You will have excellent interpersonal skills and attention to detail, and have the ability to work independently, with support from your intake assistant and genetic counsellor colleagues Ideally you would have experience within a health service or telephone experience, but not essential
