Responsibilities



The primary responsibilities of the successful candidate will be to provide in business and financial analysis and project management coordination for groups and activities within the Division. This position serves as a resource to line management and technical staff to ensure objectives are achieved and carried out consistently in the following areas: business and program management, contracts, finance, quality assurance, acquisitions, and sales. Routine external contacts include staff at DOE site office, DOE Headquarters and other clients, as well as vendors and collaborators at universities and other federal agencies. The successful candidate is expected to work in a collaborative environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Projects within the groups are primarily principal investigator led projects among various sponsors. Project Coordinators are expected to identify potential areas of concerns associated with group activities, identify possible resolutions and work with appropriate management to resolve. 

Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Manage the grants/proposal process. Will be involved in the coordination of a high volume of internal and external grants/proposals and will acquire subject matter expertise needed for independency. Provide independent oversight in daily coordination of project(s) including preparing and maintaining project plans, budgets, and staffing requirements. Communicate to internal and external clients. Prepare purchase requisitions and tracks procurements and service contracts throughout lifecycle. Supports business office in setting up financial structures, work breakdown structures, and maintains financial integrity. Gain knowledge of a wide range of PNNL business systems and policies.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

BS/BA and 2 years of relevant experience -OR- MS/MA or higher -OR- AA and 12 years of relevant experience -OR- HS/GED and 14 years of relevant experience

Preferred Qualifications:

Possess a strong knowledge of government contracting principles, finance, and accounting principles. Takes initiative and proactive approach to tracking operational, contractual, financial, and business management requirements and financial status for the group. Ability to learn, understand and communicate to others PNNL and Battelle policies, procedures, organizational structure, and financial, contractual and management systems; DOE organizational structure; institutional relationships; funding procedures; and other policies and procedures. Prioritize work, be responsible for commitments and action items. Understand office support functions and possess the ability to effectively apply procedures, work independently, and direct workflow of others as appropriate. Able to identify potential problems/areas for continuous improvement and recommend solutions; use discretion and good judgment; independently make decisions; positively interact with a wide variety of PNNL staff and clients of all levels; resolve and/or advise management on a wide range of issues; provide training and guidance to less senior or new staff when necessary.
