Position: RRT (Registered Respiratory Therapist)
Locations: Various Cities in Florida (Ocala, Gainesville, Kissimmee)
Employment Type: Permanent, Full-time
Shift: Day/Night Rotation
Shift Schedule: Three 12-hour shifts per week (totaling 36 hours)
Job Summary:
Demonstrate knowledge of medication responses, side effects, and proper dosages in respiratory care. Effective communication with Physicians, patients, managers, and the public. Ability to instruct and assess others, recognizing and reporting patient abuse and neglect. Proficiency in generally accepted respiratory care practices prescribed by physicians. Deliver, set-up, and maintain routine and specialized therapies and equipment (e.g., oxygen, aerosol therapy, ventilators) used in Respiratory Therapy. Perform and interpret Arterial Blood Gases.
Responsibilities:
As a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT), you will assist patients with respiratory issues across all age groups. Key responsibilities include:
- Conducting patient assessments through interviews, examinations, and medical history reviews.
- Performing diagnostic tests such as spirometry, arterial blood gas analysis, and pulmonary function tests.
- Developing treatment plans in collaboration with physicians, including medication administration, oxygen therapy, and mechanical ventilation.
- Educating patients and families on respiratory conditions and self-care techniques.
- Responding to emergencies, providing life-saving interventions like CPR or intubation.
- Monitoring patients on ventilators or life support equipment, adjusting treatment as needed.
- Collaborating with healthcare professionals for comprehensive patient care.
- Maintaining accurate documentation of patient assessments, treatments, and progress.
- Participating in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care processes and outcomes.
- Staying updated on advancements in respiratory care through continuing education and research projects.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 1 year of experience in acute care settings (ICU, CVICU, NICU, PICU, Critical care unit).
- Florida State Respiratory License.
- NBRC – RRT/CRT certification.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) certification.
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support), NRP (Neonate Resuscitation), and PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certifications must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
