POSITION OVERVIEW
The LPN delivers direct patient care to individuals with various levels of health conditions and provides support services to the nursing unit under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. The LPN is expected to adhere to professional standards, as well as the regulations set by the TN and/or VA State Board of Nursing. They demonstrate the ability to administer care tailored to patient needs based on age and developmental stage. The LPN is equipped with a solid understanding of nursing principles and consistently updates their clinical knowledge and skills relevant to the LPN role in their assigned area. Decision-making is influenced by hospital policies and procedures within the licensed practice scope. Duties include offering bedside care, carrying out nursing procedures, patient transportation, basic housekeeping tasks, and documenting care and procedures accurately. The LPN is also responsible for maintaining up-to-date records in the Electronic Medical Record and other electronic systems supporting their clinical and team member responsibilities. They serve as a role model in professionalism, caregiving, and as a resource to students, colleagues, and other healthcare providers. The ability to wear a respirator mask and other protective gear when providing patient care is essential.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Graduate from an accredited LPN nursing school program. Completion of job-related competencies necessary for the LPN role in the nursing department is required. Active and valid LPN licensure in the respective state is mandatory. CPR certification is essential. Depending on the area, ACLS, PALS, NRP certifications may also be required.
