Job Opening: Dental Hygienist at Coronado Dental Associates, San Diego

Job Brief: Coronado Dental Associates in San Diego is seeking a skilled and compassionate Dental Hygienist to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing exceptional oral care to our patients and promoting good oral health practices. If you are a dedicated professional with a passion for dentistry, we invite you to apply. We are currently looking for help on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure patients feel comfortable and at ease before their dental examinations.
  • Properly sterilize and maintain dental instruments to ensure a safe and hygienic environment.
  • Conduct thorough initial mouth screenings and review patients' oral health history.
  • Identify and assess oral conditions such as gingivitis, caries, and periodontitis.
  • Perform teeth cleaning procedures, including plaque removal and fluoride application, to help protect patients' teeth.
  • Educate patients of all ages on proper oral hygiene practices, including effective brushing techniques.
  • Provide post-operative instructions and guidance following dental procedures.
  • Assist dentists in selecting appropriate treatments for various dental diseases, including oral cancer.
  • Capture dental X-rays and impressions as needed for diagnosis and treatment planning.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation and patient charts.
  • Monitor and manage dental supplies to ensure availability for treatments.

Requirements and Skills:

  • Proven experience as a Dental Hygienist or in a similar role.
  • Thorough knowledge of health and safety regulations, including HIPAA compliance.
  • Experience in preparing and maintaining dental equipment for procedures.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Possess a patient and friendly personality to create a positive patient experience.
  • Strong attention to detail to accurately assess and address oral health issues.
  • Physical stamina to meet the demands of the role, including prolonged periods of standing.
  • Diploma in Dental Hygiene; Master’s degree is a plus.
  • Valid license to practice dental hygiene in the state of California.
