Material Controls Supervisor

Responsible for inventory accuracy, distribution to support warehouses, and effective utilization of inventory through production planning. This position is responsible for developing, maintaining, and utilizing system tools to comply with inventory control requirements. Position will be main contact for inventory related audits. In addition to identifying and correcting inventory errors, this person will assist in the determination of the root cause for discrepancies and participate in the corrective action with applicable operations supervisors. This role will be the primary contact for Product Teams, Supply Chain and Customer Service Representatives. Responsible for the efficient scheduling shop orders to the Assembly floor based on established priorities and production requirements. Expected to have extensive knowledge of inventory movements within the facility and handle exceptions, substitutions, allocations, and other special shop order problems.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assign work and maintain workflow at optimum levels. Monitor reports for customer discrepancies, difference analyzer, lost stock bin, and stock check comparison between PRD and PEW to prioritize and conduct cycle counts. Coordinate with supervisors, group leaders, SAP Coordinators, and Production Control Coordinators to investigate problem part numbers and storage locations.
- On the job training of new employees and/or temporaries - testing/auditing of correct performance and execution of warehouse tasks and responsibilities. Document via Basic Departmental Specific Training Plan.
- Invest time each day with new employees and/or temporaries for first 2 weeks with the intent to conduct an effective onboarding experience, ensure training retention, and remove obstacles preventing the development of an effective team member.
- Provide necessary resources and tools to keep personnel productive (radios, lifts & harnesses, pallets, scanners, box cutters, etc.).
- Daily assignment and verification of aisles/areas for cleanup and 5S. Manage efforts known as Rack Attack to address potential inventory issues.
- Monitor and disposition all pallets/bin boxes/products in area of responsibility for correct status identification. Address problems immediately.
- Other Inventory and Production Control Responsibilities:
- Manage all aspects related to an internal or external inventory accuracy audit
- Create and analyze daily reports to support inventory accuracy requirements
- Monitors daily cycle count progress. Supports Operations Manager to identify short falls in counts, quantity, or quality
- Monitors, troubleshoot and correct SAP error logs (i.e..COGI, Message Queue, Stock Check, Lost Stock Bin)
- Performs research and investigations of discrepancies (shortages / overages). Review process failures with production supervisors.
- Prepares monthly reports on inventory and delivery KPIs. Conducts monthly inventory accuracy review.
- Responsible for analysis and replenishment planning/execution to CCCs. Includes maintaining system settings to support.
- Review inventory for obsolesce or excess inventory based on files provided by Supply Chain. Coordinate scrapping or relocation offsite to free up available storage bins.
- Manage any scrap requests to include required documentation as evidence for auditors.
- Consolidate monthly reporting package for Germany: SUT, Inventory Value, Logistics Error Rates, Customer Delivery Performance, Supplier Delivery Performance, Sales, and Costs.
- Maintain communication of pertinent details between departments. Read and respond to emails as necessary.
- Perform effective shift handoff to include status of expedited ordersand overtime plans (stay late/arrive early assignments & report times that impact the next shift).
- Special projects to include manning the radio base station for communication with order pickers regarding inquiries and requests for alternate locations.
- Manage data to maintain labor standards in the system. Maintain required master data for products; establish work centers, routings and production versions; maintain bills of material.
- Evaluate usage of competitor inventory.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule in order to meet facility requirements.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for leading department toward to support company goals.
- Must possess strong proven leadership and people skills.
- Ability to prioritize and schedule work flow within department.
- Provide timely feedback on employee performance.
- Develop department members to support all department requirements.
- Must possess basic knowledge of Human Resource skills and Labor practices.
- Be part of the solution. Perform disciplinary action as required.
- Maintain timely employee records concerning attendance and production performance.
- Access timekeeping system to correct punches & attendance for all employees; ensure accurate time sheets for temporaries via temp agency requirements.
- Cover for absenteeism and vacation as required.
- Develop, submit, and test system changes and improvements to include new projects.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, or related field from an accredited four-year college or university preferred, or equivalent related experience
- Minimum of 7+ years previous or related experience preferred
- Forklift and order picker certified or willingness to learn is preferred.
- SAP warehouse management experience highly preferred.
OVERTIME
- Overtime may be required.
