Summary of Position

The Application Specialist provides outstanding customer service to both internal and external customers by professionally answering calls and completing telephonic applications for public assistance programs.

Essential Job DutiesAnswers telephone inquiries and responds to citizen inquiries related to the services they wish to apply for or are currently receivingAccepts telephonic applications for public assistance programsScreens applicants to determine if existing case exists or application is pendingUses multiple complex computer systems to research, validate, update, and maintain case informationProvides information to callers, including rights and responsibilitiesMaintains accurate files, records, and reports to document communication, compliance, and resolution of issueRegular and timely attendance Education RequirementsHigh School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience Skills RequiredData entry experienceExcellent diction, grammar, voice quality and articulationProficiency with computer and customer service skills and experienceMust be able to type 20 wpm minimumCustomer service experience, preferably in a call center environmentMust be comfortable with heavy computer usage with the ability to multi-task while using multiple computer screens, programs, and interfaces while on the telephone
