Job Overview

Our Switching and Fusing Business Unit in Leeds, AL is seeking a motivated Product CAD Designer who will design, develop, and draft customized solutions based on customer requirements while maintaining compliance with the latest industry standards relevant to the product line. Work closely with sales, engineering, and manufacturing teams to translate customer specifications into detailed design drawings that will include structural steel and aluminum, as well as control mechanisms used in Engineer-to-order (ETO) high voltage substation and transmission switches.

A Day In The Life
  • Perform design and drafting duties for Engineer-to-order department
  • Ensure drawings are accurate and completed in a timely manner
  • Ensure drawings are in compliance with relevant standards and specifications
  • Communicate regularly with shop floor regarding any manufacturability or quality issues
  • Interact with customers both internally and externally during the design process
  • Author and manage Engineering change orders as appropriate
  • Manage own drawing schedule in a fast-paced environment while designing various product types
What will help you thrive in this role?
  • Associate‘s degree, or equivalent experience in drafting and design
  • Experience in Engineering Design using CAD packages
  • Proficient with 2D and 3D CAD packages (ideally Autodesk AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor)
  • Experience in engineering change management (ideally Autodesk Vault and SAP Fiori)
  • Experience reading and interpreting structural drawings
  • Understanding of dynamic mechanical and electrical systems
  • Steel fabrication drafting experience would be helpful
  • Must have excellent communication skills, written, verbal and MS Office Products
