Summary:
The responsibility of the Director of Future Supply Development - Americas, is to identify, develop and manage a robust regional supply base in North America. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in procurement, supplier relationship management, and strategic sourcing. A key element of this position will be a deep understanding of global and regional supply chains and how they can be leveraged to create a low risk, competitive supply chain to support SKF Americas factories.
This position will be located either in Blue Bell, PA (Americas HQ) or in Mexico. Other locations in North America will be considered.
Reporting to the VP of Purchasing - Americas, this role is crucial for building supply chain capability and resiliency, to support Americas strategy for growth.
Responsibilities:
- Supply Base Development: Identify, evaluate, and onboard new suppliers to build a competitive and reliable supply base in North America
- Supplier Relationship Management: Establish and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to ensure high-quality components, timely delivery, and cost-effectiveness.
- Strategic Sourcing: Develop and implement sourcing strategies to optimize regional capability, cost, quality, and overall supply chain performance.
- Contract Negotiation: Negotiate contracts and agreements with suppliers to secure favorable terms and conditions.
- Risk Management: Identify and mitigate risks associated with the supply chain, including supply disruptions, global impacts, capacity and financial instability of suppliers
- Market Analysis: Conduct market research and analysis to stay informed about industry trends, pricing, and supply chain dynamics.
- Free Trade Agreements: Understand USMCA requirements and compliance related to regional value content of components and implications related to duties and tariffs.
- Cross-functional collaboration: Work closely with internal teams, inclusive of all Business Areas, production facilities, and sales teams, to ensure alignment of procurement activities with business objectives.
- Performance Metrics: Develop, monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to supplier performance, competitiveness, and supply chain efficiency and resilience.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor‘s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering or a related field
- Minimum of 10 years experience in direct material purchasing, procurement, or supply chain management, within industrial or manufacturing market
- Proven ability to develop positive relationships and maintain rapport with both internal and external customers at all levels of an organization.
- Proven ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams without formal authority.
- Proven track record of building and managing supplier relationships.
- Strong negotiation and contract management skills
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Persuasive presentation and negotiation skills
- Embraces change in the name of efficiency and effectiveness
- Demonstrated achievement in past purchasing roles
- Self-motivated and execution-focused with ability to meet deadlines
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (powerpoint, excel)
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to travel as needed, up to 20%.
