Compensation:The minimum salary for this position based on residential location, is: CA $1,440.00 per credit hour, WA $1,321.00 per credit hour, Other locations: $1,308 per credit hour.

Position Overview

Antioch University is seeking a qualified and passionate Instructor to teach MSAT 6200 Applied Biomechanical Analysis. This course is integral to the Master of Science in Athletic Training program and focuses on the study of muscles, bones, and joints as they pertain to human movement and the development of biomechanical knowledge, physical skills, and professional attitudes necessary for the effective care and performance enhancement of athletes. The course includes a significant laboratory component, where students will practice and apply hands-on biomechanical and kinesiology-based skills.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Course Instruction: Deliver engaging and comprehensive lectures on the anatomical, biomechanical, and kinesiological principles that underpin human movement, particularly as they relate to athletic performance and injury prevention.
  • Laboratory Management: Develop and supervise the laboratory component of the course within the Biomechanics Institute located at Otterbein University, ensuring that students gain practical experience in biomechanical analysis and kinesiology-based skills. This includes the preparation of lab activities, guiding students in hands-on practices, and ensuring the proper use of lab equipment.
  • Curriculum Development: Collaborate with the MSAT program faculty to continuously improve the course content, ensuring alignment with CAATE standards and the latest research and developments in biomechanics and athletic training.
  • Assessment and Evaluation: Design and implement assessments that measure student understanding and proficiency in both theoretical and practical aspects of biomechanics. Provide timely feedback and support to help students achieve course objectives.
  • Student Mentorship: Provide academic and professional mentorship to students, helping them develop the skills, knowledge, and attitudes necessary for success in athletic training and related fields.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other faculty members, clinical preceptors, and staff within the MSAT program to support student learning and contribute to the overall success of the program.
  • Professional Development: Stay current with the latest research and best practices in biomechanics, kinesiology, and athletic training. Engage in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching effectiveness and maintain professional certification(s) as required.
Qualifications and Experience

Required:
  • Master's degree in Athletic Training, Biomechanics, Kinesiology, Exercise Science, or a related field. A Doctorate is preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of clinical experience in athletic training, biomechanics, or a related field.
  • Strong leadership and decision-making abilities.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to engage students and promote a learning environment that values diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Proficiency in the use of educational technology and online learning platforms.
  • A commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment that embraces diversity and promotes equity and social justice in healthcare.
Preferred:
  • Prior teaching experience at the college or university level, particularly in biomechanics, kinesiology, or a related discipline, is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated expertise in the application of biomechanical and kinesiological principles in athletic training or a related field.

Hours of Employment

A work schedule will be established in consultation with the Program Chair.
