Major Gift Officer

The Major Gift Officer role will report to the Chief Development
Officer (CDO) and work closely with the CDO and CEO to secure
high-level gifts from individual funders. This role will provide
strategic, well-formulated, and innovative fundraising approaches
to secure new individual gifts while stewarding donors throughout
the major giving process. This includes researching, sourcing, and
soliciting new individual donors nationwide on behalf of PBRF.
Job responsibilities include:
prospective donors, aiming for a portfolio size of , and
secure gifts of $25,000+.
Research, identify, and solicit major gift prospects in key
markets across the US.
Implement a high-quality donor experience through
correspondence, donor engagement, professional proposals, mailings,
and acknowledgments, with a "high-touch" stewardship approach.
Work with the Chief Development Officer to develop donor
solicitation strategies and build a sustainable pipeline of donor
prospects.
Work collaboratively with the Chief Development Officer and
Communications Manager to prepare materials related to donor
stewardship, reporting, and gift solicitation, including
presentation materials, proposals, case statements and slide
decks.
Develop and maintain an ongoing relationship with funders.
Work in close coordination with key stakeholders to engage
donors, as appropriate.
Develop, cultivate, and nurture strong relationships with PBRC
Faculty.
Participate in Board-level Development Committee meetings.
Utilize Raisers Edge NXT to track and manage donor/prospect
portfolios.
Perform other duties as requested.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 5 years of experience in professional fundraising,
preferably with a science, health, or research nonprofit.
A passion for mission-driven work, a familiarity with current
issues and trends in fundraising, and an understanding of
philanthropic funding landscapes supporting scientific
research.
Experience sourcing and tracking potential funding
opportunities amongst high-wealth individuals; ability to develop
and maintain relationships with relevant contacts.
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, including
the ability to speak and write effectively and persuasively.
Must be able to draft compelling proposals and solicitation
letters.
Must be a self-starter and demonstrate confidence to initiate
donor visits and calls.
Proven track record closing five- and six-figure gifts while
creating and maintaining meaningful relationships with donors.
Excellent comprehension of current fundraising best practices
in terms of protocol, procedures, and data management.
Ability to work independently and part of a team.
Ability to manage time well when facing competing
priorities.
High degree of integrity, initiative, and resourcefulness.
Familiarity with national and international giving trends.
Bachelor's degree required; Advanced degree preferred; CFRE
certification desired.
Experience with Raisers Edge NXT is highly preferred.
Ability to travel as needed, including a valid driver's license
and passport.
