About the Role

This position reports directly to the WCM Manager and is responsible for the general and specific job duties of Decostar as described below:

Your Responsibilities

• To perform daily cross-functional job assignments as required and per the department established procedures and work instructions.

• Must be willing and able to travel to satellite facilities on a frequent basis for up to 1 week at a time.

Who we are looking for


• Follow all Decostar Industries health and safety policies and procedures that provide for a safe and healthful workplace for all Decostar Industries employees, contractors and visitors.

• Attend all job and safety related training as required.

• Do not operate any equipment, machinery or perform any job task unless you have competed documented training

• Participate in all accident investigations, internal inspections or audits or those conducted by any regulatory agency.

• Do not modify or by-pass any safety-related systems on any equipment or machinery.

• Immediately report any unsafe conditions or unsafe behaviors to your Team Leader, Supervisor or the Department Manager.

• Immediately report any accidents, incidents or near-misses to your Team Leader, Supervisor Department Manager or the Safety Department.

• Complete pre-operational safety checklists prior to operating any equipment or machinery

• Lead & support GSC in lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.

• Learn product and processes for areas supported

• Conduct elemental time studies as required

• Conduct Kaizen events in conjunction with cross functional teams.

• Solicit continuous improvement ideas from all Team Members

• Evaluate, communicate and assist in implementing ideas as well as communicating why ideas were not acted upon.

• Visit other Magna facilities to seek out Best Practices.

• Assist Team Members in MAGNA Winning Teams submissions.

• Coordinate Winning Team functions and information with MAGNA International.

• Other related duties as assigned by GSC Operations Manager (or his/her designee).

• Maintain a clean and safe work area.

• Participate in department meetings.

• Complete documentation of activities as required.

• Submit cost reduction and innovation ideas.

• Participate in continuous improvement programs and activities to ensure meeting of departmental performance objectives.

• Perform job duties within the guidelines of the Decostar Supplier Quality Manual and ISO/TS 16949 procedures.

• Perform other duties as directed by the GSC Operations Manager.

Your preferred qualifications


• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field is required (An Associate's Degree coupled with at least four years of relevant work experience may be substituted in lieu of Bachelor's degree).

• At least five (5) years manufacturing experience is preferred.
• Strong problem solving skills, excellent analytical and statistical skill sets.

• Strong computer skills to include; Microsoft Word, Excel, & Lotus Notes. Experience with AutoCAD preferred.

• Well developed communication skills – both verbal and written. Ability to work with cross-functional teams and the management team, along with the ability to present detailed reports.

• Strong math & SPC skills.

• Must have a very positive "can do" attitude and be a self-starter.

• Must have the ability to manage multiple priorities and have a high tolerance for stressful situations.

• Must have the ability to read automotive blueprints and engineering specifications.

• Demonstrated ability to lead and encourage groups to effective results.

• Knowledge of ISO/TS16949, SPC, MSA, and GR&R is preferred

• Knowledge of automation control systems (PLCs / Robots / Vision) is preferred
