Summary

This position is located in the Division of Nursing Services, Medical/Surgical Unit/3West at Gallup Indian Medical Center Gallup, NM. This position is responsible for supervision, managing, directing, coordinating, leadership and evaluating the provision of nursing care provided on Medical/Surgical Unit/3West. Reports to Supervisory Nurse/Assistant Chief Nurse Executive-Inpatient.



Duties

  • Functions as the Supervisory Nurse with 24-hours responsibility for nursing services and nursing care on Medical/Surgical Unit/3West.
  • Plans the work for the unit, adjusting work schedules as needed to meet the staffing and patient care needs.
  • Implements personnel management procedures, training and career development plans, grievance procedures, safety practices as well as specific orientation and training of each employees.
  • Recommends, initiate various personnel actions, performance awards, and disciplinary actions for employee at level of authority and works collaboratively with other Nursing leaders to meet Division of Nursing, hospital and Federal initiates and goals.
  • Perform the full range of patient care duties.
  • Closely observes patients for conditions that may require emergency measures; recognizes, identifies, and interprets serious clinical situations, initiates and provides appropriate immediate/emergency measures.
  • Sets up, operates and monitors specialized equipment.
  • Participates with the hospital performance improvement coordinator to assure compliance with The Joint Commission (TJC) standards and other applicable accreditation standards.
  • Applies and implements EEO program and guidelines.
