Job Summary

The Director of Industry Engagement is responsible for supporting, promoting, and delivering industry support to academic and research initiatives across the Kennesaw State University (KSU) campuses. This position will serve as a business contact for specific industry members and work in conjunction with, but not limited to, Office of Research and associated Colleges. This position will be responsible for the growth of industry support activities at KSU through organization, proposal development, and collaboration across the university and the state.


Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Coordinates with KSU development on interactions with corporate world to ensure correct triage of activities (e.g., research vs philanthropic)
2. Aligns faculty expertise with corporate research and development sponsorship
3. Coordinates and manages industry support activities within KSU consistent with applicable requirements and needs by developing and offering integrated and comprehensive support for specific business needs. These support services will be structured to help industry partners navigate the complexities of working within the KSU ecosystem, with a goal of removing barriers and growing funded activities at KSU
4. Coordinates with Technology Licensing to create a streamlined pipeline to move innovations into sponsor portfolio
5. Develops and grows the industry engagement portfolio through new industry partners. Leverage stakeholder and partner networks across the state to improve industry support participation and outcomes.
6. Identifies, markets, and assists in all SBIR/STTR proposals with non-KSU startups as partners
7. Improves outreach, develops relationships, and coordinates with industry partners. Works across the state with chambers, Georgia Economic Development, and other support organizations to growth and development industry support opportunities within KSU


Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education
Other Required Qualifications
Current, valid and unrestricted drivers' license
Required Experience
Eight (8) years of related work experience economic development, corporate site selection, and/or corporate investment decision making.
Proven success aligning corporate interests with programs to establish, secure and sustain valuable industry partnerships


Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Educational Qualifications
Advanced degree from an accredited institution of higher education relevant to the position
Preferred Experience
Academic experience in corporate sponsored research, sponsored programs, and/or industry engagement
Experience with philanthropic focused databases
Experience with corporate philanthropy


Proposed Salary

The budgeted salary range is $119,280 to $150,000. Offers are based on relevant experience.
