Guidewire is searching for a Senior Data Manager passionate about leveraging geographic information systems (GIS) to create easily consumed national geospatial risk mitigation solutions for insurance, utility, financial, and real estate companies. You will lead a team of talented geospatial analysts who are continuously updating and adding information to our HazardHub API, the most comprehensive set of property risk data, casualty risk data, and hazard risk scoring in the P&C insurance industry. You will work to improve and maintain the organizations' databases continually. The role requires GIS expertise, an architectural mind, leadership skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, especially with Product. The role also requires a strong product mindset and the ability to interact with Customers and explain our risk data.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee database development production to align with the product roadmap
  • Manage, plan, assign, and review analysts work on various projects
  • Manage GIS data analyst staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs and conduct performance evaluations
  • Ensure proper maintenance and documentation of GIS data
  • Enhances the effectiveness of database tools and services
  • Develop procedures to ensure data integrity and quality
  • Provide coaching and ensure staff are receiving project mentoring
  • Manage performance issues and any arising internal conflict to resolution
  • Ensure available training and collateral (e.g. new product roll-out or skills development) is communicated to staff
  • Provide mentoring and support to the team as needed
  • Create client-facing documents for HazardHub products for technical and non-technical audiences.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, geography, information systems management, or related field. Masters degree preferred.
  • Deep understanding of GIS data / enterprise production systems
  • Strong and robust QA/QC experience
  • Strong experience on peril based data, weather, climate, hazards
  • Four (4) years of progressively responsible professional experience related to the analysis, design, implementation, support, and administration of GIS systems in a complex enterprise environment
  • Two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in GIS Management or GIS project management required.
  • Expert knowledge of GIS systems (ArcGIS), processes, hardware/software, and techniques applicable to GIS web services and database processes
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills for corresponding with cross-functional teams and the public for making presentations, recommendations, resolving issues, and for providing training
  • Excellent skills in planning, organizing, problem-solving, and time management.

  • Specialized expertise and domain knowledge in one of the following areas:
