Assistant Professor of Professional Practice in the Applied Learning Sciences

The Teaching and Learning Department (TAL) at the University of Miami (UM) School of Education and Human Development (SEHD) is seeking an Assistant Professor of Professional Practice to contribute significantly to the graduate programs in the Applied Learning Sciences field. We are looking for a top-tier educator with expertise in academic learning, a strong dedication to equity and inclusion, and practical experience in designing learning environments using innovation and technology in various educational settings. Candidates must hold a doctoral degree in Learning Sciences, Education, or a related field, and have a background in teaching online higher education courses, particularly at the graduate level.

The position commences on August 15, 2024.

The chosen candidate will deliver a range of online and in-person courses within the Applied Learning Sciences program, focusing on areas like online learning environment design, workplace learning design, and cultural aspects of learning. They will collaborate with TAL faculty to attract and support a diverse group of graduate students who will shape effective learning environments for schools, businesses, and communities. There is potential for the successful candidate to advance to the role of Program Director, overseeing program growth and quality control. Furthermore, they will be involved in departmental and university tasks as per rank requirements and UM Faculty Manual. This position is renewable and subject to advancement based on performance and departmental needs.
