Position Summary:

This position will provide technical leadership for development of medical device solutions for treating obstructive sleep apnea. This position seeks to lead research activities and leverage scientific findings to develop neurostimulation therapies for sleep apnea.

Scientist's role will be to design and conduct pre-clinical and/or feasibility clinical studies using neurostimulation. The role will involve analyzing biosignal data to identify opportunities for improving therapy outcomes, and make recommendations for new product development.. Candidate should have a natural curiosity & independent thinking to understand how things work, and resourceful problem solving thinking..

MAIN DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Design and lead pre-clinical and feasibility human studies of neurostimulation for sleep apnea
  • Collect and analyze biosignals to inform therapy development recommendations.
  • Work with a cross-functional team (clinical, engineering, regulatory) to translate findings into product pipeline.
  • Contribute to the scientific literature thru conference abstracts and papers.
  • Monitoring the literature for relevant technologies or findings that has translational importance for therapy development.
  • Ability to clearly document & communicate findings for a technical & non-technical audience.
  • Protect intellectual properties by filing patent applications.
  • Participate in next generation product development efforts in partnership with new product planning, development, and regulatory teams.

Required Qualifications:

Educational:

Required: MS degree with 2+ years work experience or PhD degree in biomedical engineering or biomedical sciences, with related experience in implanted medical device industry, sleep apnea, or neurostimulation.

Experience:

  • Strong understanding of physiology, especially sleep apnea, and neurostimulation
  • Experience with pre-clinical or human clinical trials
  • Data analysis tools and Proficient in Matlab or Python
  • Able to communicate with medical, technical & non-technical audiences
  • Related experience in the implanted medical device, particularly neurostimulation
  • Ability to travel %50, both domestic and international.
