We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Program Management Director (PMD) with a strong background in accounting, finance and financial systems to lead transformation and manage critical projects within Fastly's Finance & Accounting organization. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record successfully managing transformation initiatives in finance and accounting, delivering complex projects, a good understanding of accounting and finance principles, and experience leveraging financial systems to optimize business processes. The individual will play a crucial role in driving cross-functional projects, ensuring alignment with business goals, and enhancing financial operational efficiency.

What You'll Do:

This role would report to the Chief Accounting Officer. The PMD will have oversight over all Finance projects and help prioritize them based on project management best practices. This role will also report the status of projects to Key Stakeholders on a regular basis to ensure projects are progressing as per plan. The PMD would have visibility over obstacles and challenges that the SMEs (Subject Matter Experts) are experiencing and ensure that Key Stakeholders are aware of any delays. The PMD will also work with various cross-functional teams to assess updates made to the project timelines and reassess project plans.

  • Project Leadership: Develop and execute a comprehensive transformation strategy for the Finance and Accounting department. Drive and monitor the planning, execution, and deployment of projects related to financial systems implementation, process improvement, and other finance-related initiatives. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define project scope, objectives, deliverables, and timelines
  • Financial Systems Optimization: Utilize your knowledge and experience in financial systems to identify opportunities for process automation, integration, and enhancement. Collaborate with IT and finance teams to streamline financial workflows and improve system utilization
  • Performance Measurement & Risk Management: Define key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to track project progress, financial performance, and system efficiency improvements. Prepare regular status reports and presentations for executive management. Proactively identify potential project risks, and develop mitigation strategies. Ensure project risks related to finance and accounting are effectively managed and communicated to relevant stakeholders
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Foster strong working relationships with stakeholders across finance, accounting, IT, and other relevant departments. Act as a liaison between business units to ensure clear communication, alignment of goals, and successful project execution
  • Resource Management: Manage project resources, including personnel, budgets, and external vendors. Monitor resource allocation to ensure project milestones are met within established timelines and budget constraints
  • Project Documentation: Maintain accurate project documentation, including business requirement documents (BRD), project plans, status reports, meeting minutes, and other relevant artifacts. Ensure proper documentation of financial processes, system configurations, and changes
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure project deliverables meet high-quality standards, comply with Business Requirement Documents (BRD), and align with best practices in accounting and finance

What We're Looking For:

  • Minimum 10+ years of proven experience in Program Management in a finance-related capacity, demonstrating successful delivery of projects with significant accounting, finance, and financial systems components
  • Experience in Six Sigma or PMP principles is strongly preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field strongly preferred. CPA is a plus
  • Solid understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, SOX internal controls, and systems to create efficiencies in these areas
  • Experience with financial systems such as Salesforce, Netsuite, Coupa, Adaptive, Workday, tax engines, banking integration, procurement platforms and business intelligence platforms
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to understand complex financial processes
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across diverse teams and stakeholders
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to motivate teams, make decisions, and resolve conflicts
  • Proven track record of managing projects within scope, schedule, and budget constraints
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, ensuring accurate documentation and reporting
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements and compliance standards related to financial processes
  • Adaptability to a dynamic work environment and changing project priorities

Work Hours:

This position will require you to be available during core business hours.

This position is open to the following preferred office locations:

  • San Francisco, CA - plan to work from the SF office approximately 2 days/week.

Fastly currently embraces a largely hybrid model for most roles which allows employees flexibility to split their time between the office and home.

Salary:

The estimated salary range for this position is $181,220 to $226,520.

Starting salary may vary based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as experience, skills, qualifications, and location.

This role may be eligible to participate in Fastly's equity and discretionary bonus programs.
