Duties
  • Serves as the subject matter expert and technical authority in the Office of Central Operations (OCO) providing expertise in the areas of operational programs and policy initiatives.
  • Participates at the Office level in planning, directing and controlling the operational activities of a segment of OCO related to disability, international and earnings claims operations.
  • Analyzes new and revised SSA policies, procedures and initiatives to determine impact/effect on OCO policies and resources and prepares OCO level comments.
  • Serves as an advisor to the Associate and Assistant Associate Commissioner's by providing input on operational activities and significant policy and legislative changes within assigned area of responsibility.
  • Plans, develops, implements and monitors projects, studies and analyses in one of the following subject matter areas: operational programs, policy initiatives, management information, human capital data and time management information.
  • Develops implements, evaluates and improves processes and procedures to monitor the effectiveness, efficiency and productivity in assigned subject matter areas.

      Qualifications

      Applicants must have 52 weeks of specialized experience at the GS-12 level, or equivalent, which is in or related to the work of the position to be filled and has equipped applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience includes providing technical advice and guidance, serving as a program liaison, analyzing complex information by conducting or participating in reviews or studies, organizing and conveying information related to the program initiatives, policies or objectives orally and in writing.

      Applicants for promotion must have 52 weeks at GS-12.

      LOCATION: Office of Central Operations (OCO), Office of Earnings and International Operations (OEIO), Division of Training and Program Support (DTPS), Wabash Building, 6100 Wabash Avenue Baltimore, MD 21215.

      TOUR OF DUTY: Monday through Friday. Flex-time and AWS are available.

      Note: Part-time employees may not be converted to full-time by way of this announcement.

      NONCOMPETITIVE CONSIDERATION DUE TO SPECIAL HIRING AUTHORITY

      LOCALITY PAY: Salary will be set in accordance with locality pay provisions. Candidates currently receiving a higher locality pay than the office applied for are advised that should they be selected, they will lose entitlement to the higher locality pay.

      OTHER NOTES:

      This position is temporary not-to-exceed 1 year. Temporary promotions or reassignments may be extended or become permanent.

      This position is eligible for telework.

      This is a moderate risk public trust position.
