The Regional Maintenance Manager has supervisory responsibility for multiple maintenance facilities usually within a defined geographical region. Manages shop operations and ensures timely delivery of safe and reliable equipment to drivers in assigned area. Manages expenditures for maintenance facilities, parts inventory, and equipment. Responsibilities include scheduling of personnel, hiring and training employees, appraising performance, addressing customer complaints and resolving problems. Positions works independently with discretion and authority. This position reports into the Director of Maintenance operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Effectively communicate with Operations on outstanding action items and discuss areas of concern from a maintenance and equipment point of view.
  • Review status of down equipment and follow up on exceptions.
  • Enforce and educate service managers, and staff on company policies and ensure all maintenance personnel understand and follow these company guidelines and procedures.
  • Review VPO report, contact locations, and ensure breakdown analysis process is being followed.
  • Perform Monthly inspections while at shop locations and ensure maintenance facilities are meeting their inspection goals.
  • Review payroll reports, discuss variances with appropriate location manager and ensure they are submitting timecards on a timely basis.
  • Attend operations or start up conference calls and be prepared to participate and present topics on the call.
  • Review location cost, address areas of opportunities, and provide solutions and support.
  • Review fleet performance and identify low performing fleets or vehicles, develop and execute action plan to improve performance.
  • Review and follow up on Key Performance Indicators such as; Productivity Reports, Pm Reports, Warranty Shipping and Scrap Report, Trailer Hit List, Campaigns due and address reoccurring issues.
  • Perform at a minimum one facility audit on each maintenance facility annually. Develop an action plan based on the audit findings and implement a plan to address issues with the location manager.
  • Create action plans and ensure formalized process is used and appropriate personnel are copied on plan.
  • Summarize monthly activities, location visits, vendor visits and operational meetings with appropriate corporate personnel.
  • Maintain training, coaching and individual development planning for Service Mangers and ensure there is personal development for their maintenance staff.
  • Participate in programs and requests for data to track and evaluate component performance and provide constructive feedback.
  • Ensure strict compliance with all NFI EPA guidelines.
  • Perform yearly performance review for Service Manager's.
  • Purchasing – ensure all guidelines are adhered to by all locations. Obsolete parts – maintain company standards for all facilities. Bi-annual inventory – performed accurately in a timely basis.
  • Deliver consistent implementation of company policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Post high school / technical school education required
  • Must have valid driver's license with acceptable driving record (A CDL required)
  • At least 5 years of similar management experience /Service Manager
  • At least 3-5 years of mechanics experience in medium/heavy truck repair
  • Computer applications MS Office & TMW
  • Effectively communicate with senior management
  • Strong supervisory skills in dealing with people and managing territories remotely
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to create a team environment
  • Strong internal & external customer service skills
  • Ability to manage off site equipment and vendors
  • Ability to travel minimum 75% of the time
  • Ability to lift 75 lbs. occasionally
