Gleaners Food Bank of Indiana is the states largest hunger relief organization and one of the leading food banks in the Feeding America Network. In additional to vital hunger relief programs in our 21-county service area, we also operate Fresh Connect Central, a regional produce cooperative for Feeding America, serve as a contract reclamation site for Kroger Central Division, and are a staging site for FEMA disaster response.

The Development Services Manager is responsible for serving as a crucial member of the development team by supporting front-line fundraisers and development outreach. The Development Services Manager develops and executes reports from the donor data CRM to provide donor data analytics to aid in development strategy and activities. This position reports to the CPO. All responsibilities shall be consistent with Gleaners Food Bank's mission to be a leader in the fight against hunger.

Essential Functions:

  • Serve as a super user of the CRM (Salesforce and companion software such as Titan for gift acknowledgements and iWave and other platforms for research) and trusted source to support the fundraising team.
  • Provide timely and accurate reports to facilitate the achievement and analysis of fundraising and constituent engagement goals.
  • Capture key donor information for relationship data files. Perform ongoing database maintenance to ensure Relationship Management system reflects donor information accuracy.
  • Proactively communicate with development team and/or donors to update and/or share key information to aid in relationship-building and outreach.
  • Understand and apply best practices, regulations and guidelines governing fundraising gift agreements and pledge reminders and follow up.
  • Stay current with trends in philanthropy and with the developments that apply to supporting frontline fundraisers and the Gleaners enterprise.
  • Lead and implement the gift acknowledgement process, ensuring that thank you letters are up to date and mailed to donors within 3-4 days of receipt of gifts; ensure language included consistent with IRS guidelines for gift receipting; create and mail calendar-year giving letters to universe of donors as directed. Generate other donor correspondence as directed.
  • Assist in CRM training of relationship managers and special events manager.
  • Participate in planning and execution of upgrades and technology enhancements as needed for front-line fundraisers productivity.
  • Provide data analytics to guide fundraising activities and improvement.
  • Research and provide briefings to inform the work of relationship managers to achieve fundraising goals; perform independent prospect research using all available online tools.
  • Perform regular donor screenings using iWave or similar software.
  • Utilize internal and external data to evaluate prospects for Relationship Managers.
  • Assist with data acquisitions. This includes direct marketing/and on-line lists, providing support for direct marketing strategies, as well as working with mail/data houses.
  • Responsible for assisting in event administrative activities related to fundraising.
  • Assists with receipt of online gift and social media, text to give, DipJars, and other strategies.
  • Ensure that Gleaners always exemplifies the highest standards of customer service.
  • Collaborate with finance colleagues for reporting requirements (e.g. Feeding America reporting, direct mail analysis, fundraising program goals, etc.)
  • Prepares for and participates in development department meetings
  • All other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience:

  • 3-5 years of equivalent experience or a bachelors degree.
  • Three to Five years of CRM/database management experience preferred.
  • Experience with prospect research preferred
  • Experience with Salesforce and BI software (Tableau or PowerBI) preferred.
  • Tableau and/or Salesforce certifications a plus
  • Experience with customer relationship management (CRM) systems preferred (Salesforce experience a plus), with ability to create, analyze, and present reports.

  • Basic mathematics, strong analytical thinking, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, mail merges, and transcription.
  • Valid driver's license/Clean driving record /Must be insurable by company vehicle insurance provider.
