Job Description

The University of Nevada, Athletic Department is recruiting two Assistant Director, Sports Medicine positions. The Assistant Director, Sports Medicine diagnoses and treats injuries, staffs practices and events and maintains a safe environment for staff and student-athletes. The position maintains electronic medical records, primary insurance of each athlete, coordinates medical coverage needed, assists with operation of the University's main and satellite athletic training facilities, administers drug testing, mentors graduate and undergraduate student athletic trainers, and maintains athletic training equipment. The Sports Medicine department medical decisions and actions are under the supervision of the team physicians.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and two (2) years of related work experience; OR Master's Degree and one (1) year of related work experience

Related Experience: Managing or assisting with management of athletic training facilities at the collegiate or professional level working with men's or women's sports programs

Certification and Licensure

Certification by appropriate accrediting body within first 6 months of employment:
  • National Athletic Trainers' Association as administered by the NATA Board of Certification (NATABOC) and maintain required continuing education
  • National Board of Physical Therpaists (for certain positions)
  • Must be licensed in the State of Nevada with the Nevada Athletic Trainers' Association or Nevada Physical Therapy Board
  • First aid and CPR certification

Administrative Faculty Comp Grade B
