The Senior Automation Engineer will serve as the 1st line of support for the Bloomington multi-use manufacturing facility. The Senior Automation Engineer's primary duty is to effectively maintain reliable and qualified operation of various Distributed Control Systems, Programmable Automation Controllers, Human Machine Interfaces, and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition systems for both existing and new assets. Responsibilities include designing automation software and strategies based on the latest GAMP guidelines, developing software modules and graphical user interfaces in accordance with design requirements, troubleshooting, improving, and implementing automated control systems,compiling/maintainingautomation requirements and design specifications, and interfacing with manufacturing and other end users of the system and implement necessary changes to improve system's overall efficiency.

This is a fulltime role working rotating weekends on a 4 /3 schedule beginning 9:00PM – 9:30AM (Thursday – Sunday and Friday – Sunday rotation).

There is a $10,000 sign on for this role.

The Role

  • Act as key Subject Matter Expert (SME) for automation design, systems integration and Computer System Validation
  • Supports development and qualification of SCADA applications
  • Utilizes PLC ladder-logic, function block diagrams, structured text, and S88 batch (procedural control) programming
  • Support the multi-use manufacturing facility, including BMS (Building Management Systems) and HVAC systems
  • Monitor, maintain, and support existing production and monitoring systems (PLC, HMI, automation/controls applications, device networks, application software, etc.)
  • Apply and enhance existing automation validation methods and templates for the qualification of new and existing production automated systems, including major capital projects and continuous improvement of systems
  • Mentor other jr. automation engineers, technicians, and support staff

The Candidate

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical/Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or appropriate scientific discipline, required
  • Master's degree, preferred
  • PE / Registered Engineer, preferred
  • OSHA/IOSH/NeBOSH Certification or equivalent, preferred
  • Demonstrated competency in PLC ladder-logic, function block diagrams, structured text, and S88 batch (procedural control) programming
  • 5+ years relevant Project Engineering experience, automation highly preferred
  • 2+ years in a regulated industry (Life Sciences, preferred)
  • Must be able to read and understand English-written job instructions and safety requirements
